During the time of the Clone Wars of old canon, the Mandalorian Protectors were tasked by the Confederacy of Independent Systems with a mission that took them to Norval II. Their goal was to capture Galactic Republic Senator Padmé Amidala. In actuality, the Republic had set a trap, and nearly all of the Protectors were killed in the resulting ambush.
Near the conclusion of the Clone Wars timeline, Separatist leader Darth Sidious gave orders to the Mandalorian Protectors. These Protectors, under the command of the renegade ARC trooper and Mandalore Alpha-Ø2, were to capture Senator Padmé Amidala while she was on Norval II. However, this was a trap set by the Galactic Republic. Sidious, acting as the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, had also dispatched the Ailon Nova Guard to Norval II. The Nova Guard proceeded to massacre the Supercommandos of the Mandalorian Protectors. Only Fenn Shysa, Tobbi Dala, and Alpha-Ø2 survived the slaughter, and most of their BL-series Battle Legionnaire droids were destroyed.
This mission proved to be the final one for the Mandalorian Protectors. Following the Clone Wars, the traumatized Alpha-Ø2 journeyed to the Extrictarium Nebula, where he eventually succumbed to clone madness. This left Dala and Shysa to rebuild the Protectors on Mandalore, which had been enslaved by the Imperial forces.
