The MK I "Hotspot" insulated armor represented a specific variant of insulated clone trooper armor. It was employed by the clone flametrooper corps within the Galactic Republic's clone army during the Clone Wars, a conflict waged against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Although designed with thermal protection to safeguard the wearer from extreme temperatures, the armor suffered from significant design shortcomings, notably an inadequate respirator filtration mechanism. Consequently, the MK II "Hotspot" Insulated Armor was developed and subsequently adopted by the Republic's flametrooper units.
The MK I "Hotspot" insulated armor received a mention within Rise of the Separatists. This publication served as a supplementary roleplaying sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying game series, brought to the public by Fantasy Flight Games back in 2019.
