Mobile assault walker

The mobile assault walker represented a type of walker employed by the stormtroopers of the First Order functioning as mechanized cavalry. These walkers were constructed to overwhelm enemy positions and pursue retreating troops. They featured two forward-facing laser cannons along with a third cannon capable of rotating and firing in various directions.

Supported by a two-legged design, the mobile assault walkers were piloted by either a stormtrooper sergeant, stormtrooper officer, or a riot control stormtrooper. The mobile assault walker's design evokes similarities to the AT-RT; however, it differs in armament and requires the pilot to stand instead of sit.

There were three known color schemes, including a forest green camouflage pattern with yellow emblems displayed on the walker's body and feet. Another variation featured a desert theme, incorporating sandy brown and tan hues, and substituted the yellow swashes with a bright-red color. The third variation was characterized by a gun-metal gray exterior lacking colored embossments. Furthermore, this variant was armed with two additional forward-facing cannons, resulting in a total of five laser cannons.

Behind the scenes

The mobile assault walkers were showcased in the marketing campaign promoting the seventh Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and were released as part of Hasbro's The Force Awakens toy line. While the standard release included a green walker accompanied by a stormtrooper sergeant adorned with a black pauldron, a desert-themed exclusive variant was offered through the online retailer Entertainment Earth, which was packaged with a stormtrooper officer wearing an orange pauldron.

The green walker was re-released as part of the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story toy line, featuring updated packaging and artwork that was repurposed from the Entertainment Earth release.
