The All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport (AT-RT), which also goes by the designation All Terrain Recon Transport or Republic scout walker, represents a model of reconnaissance walker crafted by Kuat Drive Yards. This vehicle saw widespread deployment during the Clone Wars by Advanced Recon Force Scout Troopers serving within the ranks of the Galactic Republic. Functioning as the predecessor to the All Terrain Scout Transport, these walkers were later adopted during the Galactic Civil War by both the Galactic Empire, who employed Scout troopers as operators, and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, who implemented upgrades to match the Empire's technological advancements.
These AT-RTs were generally deployed across a spectrum of operational demands. This included ground support, police reinforcement, civil defense initiatives, and the management of post-combat cleanup efforts. In certain instances, when the terrain was too challenging for larger vehicles, these walkers would be positioned at the forefront of ground engagements.

The All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport, a product of Kuat Drive Yards intended for use by the Galactic Republic, was a compact, lightweight, single-seat walker measuring 2.9 meter in length and 3.45 meter in height. This vehicle belonged to the All-terrain vehicle series and was utilized by the Grand Army of the Republic for reconnaissance, forward command, escort duties, and light offensive operations. Piloted by a solitary [clone trooper](/article/clone_trooper], the AT-RT provided scout platoons with exceptional mobility and tactical adaptability. It was outfitted with a robust, encrypted communications system, a compact yet sophisticated sensor suite, and a sound suppression system to facilitate covert operations. The AT-RT had a price range of 8,000 to 20,000 credits.
In terms of combat capabilities, the AT-RT featured a chin-mounted Maad 38 laser cannon integrated into its forward hull. This weapon provided the vehicle with the ability to engage both personnel and lightly-armored targets, equipping the pilot with sufficient firepower for nearly any given mission. However, the standard forward-mounted blaster could be replaced with either a retrofitted chin-mounted flamethrower or a retrofitted Z-6 rotary blaster cannon, and it could also be armed with a mortar launcher. The walker could reach a top speed of 75 kilometers per hour and had a carrying capacity of up to 100 kilograms.
Throughout the entirety of the war, AT-RT walkers were deployed by the Grand Army of the Republic. During the Battle of Christophsis, clone troopers operated AT-RTs in order to combat Whorm Loathsom's droid army. During the Battle of Ryloth, Lightning Squadron rode AT-RTs alongside the Twi'lek Resistance, who rode their own blurrg mounts, to liberate the capital city of Lessu.
During the Battle of Umbara, the walkers were deployed by Republic gunships and subsequently utilized by the 501st Legion in their fight against the Umbaran Militia throughout the extended campaign. During the battle on Kiros, clones from the 501st and 212th Attack Battalion rode through the city to attack the droids, and Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano rode them to chase after the Zygerrian enslaver Darts D'Nar as he fled the city. Near the conclusion of the Clone Wars, clone troopers from the 41st Elite Corps employed them during the Battle of Kashyyyk.

The Galactic Empire continued to deploy AT-RTs, with scout troopers serving as their operators. These vehicles could be deployed by an All Terrain Anti Aircraft. A unit of scout troopers deployed at least two AT-RTs on Mygeeto, where they engaged in combat with a Rebel group known as the Plasma Devils.
The Alliance to Restore the Republic, specifically the Tatooine rebel cell, utilized modified AT-RTs.
The Alliance to Restore the Republic also modified some AT-RT's to have a chin-mounted flamethrower, as well as modifying others to have a chin-mounted Z-6 rotary blaster cannon.
In 34 ABY, the First Order also utilized the walkers. They were included in the deployment on Vodran when J-Squadron was captured.
The All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport made its initial appearance in the 2005 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. It was subsequently identified in Collapse of the Republic, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.
