Whorm Loathsom

Whorm Loathsom functioned as a general of the Kerkoiden species, serving the Retail Caucus. This organization pledged allegiance to the Confederacy of Independent Systems throughout the duration of the Clone Wars. Following a string of successful military engagements, he achieved renowned status across the Core Worlds region, extending into the Inner Core. Although he held the view that adversaries were due a certain level of respect, he considered clone troopers as expendable resources and demonstrated a willingness to target civilian populations. During the Battle of Christophsis, he maintained a close, trusting relationship with Asajj Ventress. Before his association with the Separatists, Loathsom had dedicated a substantial period to the planetary defense forces of his home planet, Kerkoidia. Later in the conflict, he was detained as a prisoner within a Galactic Republic military base situated on Coruscant.

Behind the scenes

Corey Burton lent his voice to the character Whorm Loathsom in the 2008 animated film, Star Wars: The Clone Wars film. Burton also voiced Ziro Desilijic Tiure in the same film and later went on to provide the voices of Count Dooku and Ziro in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. The character's visual design was inspired by concept artwork created by illustrator and art director Doug Chiang for a Neimoidian baron trader during the production of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.

According to editor Dave Filoni and writer Henry Gilroy in an interview with TheForce.net, when queried about the potential return of Whorm Loathsom in future episodes, Gilroy and Filoni acknowledged that there had been considerations to incorporate Loathsom into the now non-canon Star Wars: The Clone Wars comic book series, which ultimately did not come to fruition. However, they suggested the possibility of his reintroduction in later seasons, noting that the then-upcoming episode "The Hidden Enemy" was intended to showcase Loathsom revealing the history of his schemes with Asajj Ventress prior to the events of The Clone Wars film. However, the plans to bring Loathsom back were never realized before the show's cancellation.
