Star Wars: The Clone Wars was a series of comic books that Dark Horse Comics published. The inaugural issue was made available to the public on September 10, 2008. The series was comprised of a total of 12 issues, all of which were connected to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated show. Henry Gilroy, who served as the head writer for the show's initial season, penned the first story arc. Originally intended to span only six issues, its success led Dark Horse editor Randy Stradley to announce six more issues on January 18, 2009. These additional issues consisted of two three-part narratives, collaboratively written by Henry Gilroy and series writer Steven Melching. Subsequently, all issues were collected into three individual trade paperbacks, mirroring the format of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars graphic novellas. On December 28, 2009, Randy Stradley revealed the series' termination, citing the limited size of the young-comics-readers demographic.
Taking place during the period between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, this fresh series will center its attention on the renowned Clone Wars! Familiar Jedi characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Master Yoda, Master Mace Windu, and others, will be accompanied by some new personalities as they strive to uphold the true values of the Republic.
In addition to the primary narrative, each issue will present a supplementary story crafted by one of the artists involved in the TV series!
This new series is intended as a complement [sic] to Lucasfilm's highly anticipated CGI-animated movie and television programs, The Clone Wars!
