Biography

Melching's connection to Hollywood extends back generations; his great-grandfather aided in the creation of the massive King Kong hand seen clutching Fay Wray in the 1933 film classic. Seeing 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope in a Honolulu cinema at the age of nine solidified his career aspirations. While he is a respected and established writer in the animation field, Melching initially garnered the attention of the Star Wars community through his work on TROOPS, a well-known Internet parody that combines the Star Wars universe with the style of the TV show Cops. Nominated for both an Emmy and a Writers Guild Award, he has also contributed to animated series such as The Batman, X-Men, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Transformers Prime, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
