TheForce.net, also known as TFN, stands as one of the longest-running and most frequently visited fan-operated websites dedicated to Star Wars news. Within its digital domain, one can find the Jedi Council Forums, along with the The ForceCast podcast.
Furthermore, it used to host several notable features that are no longer active. These included Bob Vitas' Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia (CUSWE), a detailed compilation of knowledge regarding the Star Wars universe that provided inspiration for the creation of Wookieepedia. By March 2006, CUSWE had migrated to its own dedicated web address: cuswe.org. Other features included: Star Wars Technical Commentaries, authored and maintained by Curtis Saxton, a professional astrophysicist; and Time Tales, a record of Star Wars history that offered in-depth summaries of both significant and minor narratives, along with details on how they interconnected.
The website's journey commenced in the latter part of 1996, initially named "Texas A&M University's Star Wars Page," established by roommates Scott Chitwood and Darin Smith. In Chitwood's own words, the original site consisted of "a few pictures and tons of text," but it eventually grew beyond its initial confines. September of 1997 marked the official launch of TheForce.Net.
In time, Joshua Griffin joined the team as a part owner. Subsequently, Philip Wise, an entrepreneur who owns the collecting site Rebelscum.com and Official Pix, the autograph company licensed by Lucasfilm, partnered with Griffin as a co-owner of the website.
