Jinata Security, abbreviated as J-Sec, functioned as a law enforcement agency on the planet Vardos, situated within the Core Worlds. This occurred during the reign of the Galactic Empire. When Iden Versio returned to her homeworld following her court-martial for sedition, several Jinata Security officers were present alongside the Aqualish named Gleb. Later, after seizing control of Project Resurrection, an undertaking focused on developing new stormtroopers through the conscription of children, General Armitage Hux and Captain Phasma from the First Order enlisted Jinata Security's help in abducting children to further their scheme.
Protectorate Gleb governed Vardos, backed by her allies in the First Order. Following the mission to Athulla, Gideon Hask killed Gleb due to her shortcomings and instructed the First Order to devastate Vardos. The planet was locked down, and the destruction of the capital, Kestro City was ordered. It was at this point that J-Sec rebelled against the First Order in response to the hostile takeover.
During the period of Project Resurrection's operation, J-Sec primarily relied on significantly outdated starships and vehicles. Their ground forces utilized vehicles like the AT-RT and AT-ST. Their starship complement included vessels such as Clone Wars-era ARC-170 starfighters and V-wing starfighters, Rebellion-era Lambda-class T-4a shuttles, modified GR-75 medium transports, at least one modified EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate, and a pre-Clone Wars Naboo N-1 starfighter that was heavily modified. They also employed BTL Y-wing starfighters that were painted with Jinata Security's specific color scheme.
