Lessu City

Lessu City, often referred to as simply Lessu, functioned as the capital city for the planet Ryloth. During the period of the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems seized control of it. However, the combined efforts of the Galactic Republic and the Twi'lek Resistance eventually led to its liberation.

Description

The city of Lessu, also known as Lessu City, was constructed within a prominent rock spire situated in the center of a rocky mesa. The city featured multiple levels built into the cliff face, along with protective outer walls. Throughout the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems installed a plasma bridge, providing the only access to the city by foot. This bridge remained in place even after the war and the rise of the Galactic Empire.

History

Lessu during the Clone Wars

During the Clone Wars era, Wat Tambor led the Separatist Droid Army in taking control of Ryloth, resulting in the Twi'leks becoming prisoners. As Republic forces neared the capital, Tambor gave the order to force the city's population outside its walls, aiming to complicate any potential assault, as he knew the Jedi would prioritize avoiding civilian casualties. The Separatists established a plasma bridge as the sole entry point to the city, which they retained the ability to activate or deactivate. The capital was later freed through the joint efforts of freedom fighters and the Galactic Republic, under the guidance of Jedi Master Mace Windu and rebel leader Cham Syndulla, with aerial assistance from Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano's fighter squadron.

After the Galactic Empire was established, Senator Orn Free Taa, Vice Admiral Rampart, and the Syndullas were all present in Lessu. There, General Syndulla encouraged his people to hand over their weapons to the Imperial Army. However, Syndulla soon began to question the Empire and its actions, leading him to form a new resistance group known as the Free Ryloth Movement.

During the Imperial occupation, the Twi'lek Isval journeyed to the Octagon, a central district within Lessu. While there, she met a Twi'lek escort named Ryiin and an intoxicated Imperial officer. After attacking the Imperial officer, she rescued Ryiin, providing her with a safe haven from slavery. Individuals like Beezer Fortuna, who opposed the Empire, were imprisoned in Lessu during the occupation. The Partisans carried out a raid in Lessu at one point, successfully liberating Fortuna.
