Mon Cal microplankton

A type of microplankton, which exhibited bioluminescence, was naturally found on the planet Mon Cala; this species could be used as a hair dye. When the microplankton came into contact with someone's hair, it would attach to the individual strands, causing them to emit a pulsating light. Sabine Wren, the Mandalorian artist and demolitions specialist, learned of this microplankton and documented it in her journal approximately five years prior to the Battle of Yavin. Wren considered coloring her hair with the substance, but she ultimately decided against it, noting in her journal that glowing hair would likely compromise her ability to perform stealth missions.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of the microplankton occurred in Sabine My Rebel Sketchbook, a reference work authored by Daniel Wallace and released in 2015.
