Mon Calamari Extreme identified the region of space situated immediately outside the Calamari system during the Defense of Mon Calamari, an event that occurred before the conclusion of the Yuuzhan Vong War.
This location was under surveillance by the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet, as it was anticipated that the Yuuzhan Vong fleet under the leadership of Warmaster Nas Choka would emerge from hyperspace there to begin the conflict. Although its orbit only brought it through Mon Calamari Extreme periodically, Iceberg Three was situated in proximity to the area during the engagement. In this zone, the Twin Suns, Vanguard, Scimitar, and Rogue Squadrons encountered and fought against an initial segment of the Yuuzhan Vong fleet.
