Monk was a male admiral of the Galactic Republic who hailed from the Human species. In the era of the Galactic War, he battled the reconstituted Sith Empire. Unbeknownst to many, he was secretly a double agent working for the Sith Lord known as Darth Baras.
Monk turned against the Republic during the initial stages of the Cold War, covertly becoming a mole for the Sith Empire under the direction of Darth Baras.
In the year 3642 BBY, Baras targeted Monk as part of Plan Zero. Baras informed Monk that Darth Vengean's command ship was positioned in orbit above Quesh and had initiated a surprise attack. Baras then instructed his apprentice to locate and eliminate Monk. However, the admiral and his elite squad had already escaped the space battle, ejecting to the planet's surface before the Sith's arrival. On Quesh, Monk and his soldiers established a defensive position within Fort Phalanx, where they were confronted and defeated by the Sith Warrior. Before his demise, Monk expressed his outrage at Baras' betrayal, which seemed to be without cause, and warned the apprentice that no one was safe from Baras, including the Warrior himself. Ironically, this prediction came to pass on Quesh, where Baras betrayed and attempted to assassinate his own apprentice.
