Muftari bread was a variety of bread that had the potential to be presented with both spiced and salted flavors. In 4 ABY, on the Outer Rim planet of Akiva, the bounty hunter named Jas Emari observed Isstra Dirus, the world's satrap, as she respectfully welcomed Arsin Crassus, the Imperial moneylender. Emari perceived Dirus's actions as appeasing, stemming from Crassus's illegal financial support of Akiva's satrapy, and she mused that the satrap was aware of "which side of his muftari bread is spiced and salted."
The novel Aftermath, published in 2015 and penned by Chuck Wendig, the initial book of Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy, included a reference to Muftari bread.
