N'Kata Del Gormo was a Hysalrian being, and it was rumored that he served as one of the initial instructors for Yoda, who would later become the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. Yoda himself, who rarely discussed his early days, began his own journey of training Jedi as a Jedi Master starting in 796 BBY. By 32 BBY, Yoda had a sand sculpture representing the Hysalria system located within his private quarters inside the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. During that year, when Jedi Master Mace Windu entered Yoda's quarters, he recognized the star system depicted in the sculpture. Windu then recalled the rumor regarding N'Kata Del Gormo's role in Yoda's training. However, the Grand Master dismissed the sculpture and used the Force to transform the sand into the shape of an Alderaanian rose.

Within the current Star Wars canon, N'Kata Del Gormo's name initially appeared in the 2024 novel titled Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss, which was penned by Steven Barnes. The identity of Yoda's old Master was mentioned in The Empire Strikes Back: So You Want to Be a Jedi?, a young-readers novel from 2015 authored by Adam Gidwitz. This novel recounts the events of the 1980 movie Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. It is important to note that The Glass Abyss does not make a direct connection between these two mentions, and it presents the idea of Del Gormo tutoring Yoda as a rumor existing in-universe.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, N'Kata Del Gormo was a Hysalrian Jedi Master who, according to an in-universe legend, provided instruction to Yoda. Chuck Hamilton created Del Gormo as part of the backstory for the Hysalrian entry in the "Design An Alien" competition featured in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine. This entry received an honorable mention in the magazine's ninth issue, which was released on October 1, 1996.
