Nadin Paal, a lieutenant within Nirama's organization during the Galactic Republic's twilight years, was a male Gran operating from the Cularin system.
As a Gran, Nadin Paal served under the crime lord Nirama, eventually achieving the rank of lieutenant in his criminal enterprise. Paal was designated as Nirama's "trade envoy" to the Cularin government, a role designed to shield the organization from legal repercussions and penalties. In addition to his diplomatic duties, Paal supplemented his income by working as a smuggler, piloting the Whirling Stars, a heavily modified YT-1300 freighter, to earn credits.
During his time with Nirama, Lieutenant Paal incurred the wrath of Riboga the Hutt, who placed a substantial bounty on his head, stipulating that it could only be claimed if Paal left the system. The Bounty Hunters' Guild maintained constant surveillance of Paal's activities. Consequently, even though the Gran was aware of impending danger as early as 32 BBY, he remained confined to Cularin. The bounty prevented the Gran from pursuing a more legitimate path elsewhere, despite his desires.
Around 20 BBY, Nadin Paal, who had become Nirama's second-in-command following the unexplained disappearance of Len Markus, journeyed to the Jedi Order's Almas Academy. His purpose was to participate in a private ceremony honoring the heroes responsible for the defeat of the infamous slaver Phylus Mon.
