New Republic General Ministry

The New Republic General Ministry was an organization within the New Republic that handled government policy, planning, and information dissemination.

Overview

The New Republic General Ministry was headed by the First Administrator, who reported to the Chief of State. The Ministry Council appointed the First Administrator, subject to the Chief of State's approval. The General Ministry Cabinet, which consisted of the heads of the various ministries and was led by the First Administrator, reported to the Chief of State and implemented their directives.

As the primary bureaucratic structure of the New Republic, the General Ministry oversaw all governmental functions not under the purview of the New Republic Defense Force or any council, committee, or commission of the New Republic Senate. Following the Black Fleet Crisis, these ministries included the Ministry of State, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Security, and the Ministry of Science.

In addition to the ministries, several agencies were responsible for overseeing governmental matters related to navigation, communications, port operations, records management, facilities maintenance, and transportation. Furthermore, the New Republic Intelligence Service was placed under the General Ministry's control. However, the Director of New Republic Intelligence reported directly to the Chief of State, bypassing the First Administrator.

Similar to its Old Republic predecessor, the General Ministry also administered the General Ministry Institutes. This served as the organizational entity that managed the funding for numerous learning and research centers supported by the New Republic government.

History

During the Black Fleet Crisis, Nanaod Engh held the position of First Administrator. Engh, a close confidant of Chief of State Leia Organa Solo, whom she affectionately called "Nanny", attempted to persuade Chief Organa Solo to improve her public image, which she eventually and reluctantly agreed to do.
