Nigel Nivers

Nigel Nivers was a male Human who achieved the rank of Grand Moff and served the Galactic Empire during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Following the Battle of Endor's devastating Imperial defeat, Nivers joined the ranks of numerous Imperial warlords all vying for control, establishing his dominion over a section of space located within the Outer Rim Territories. Nivers then attempted to bring the planet of Tandankin – a world situated within his claimed territory – under his complete control, intending to force its inhabitants into servitude. However, his plans were disrupted by Rogue Squadron, a unit of the New Republic's forces. The New Republic captured Nivers, leading to the swift end of his brief occupation of Tandankin.

Biography

As a male Human, Nigel Nivers held the prestigious rank of Grand Moff within the structure of the Galactic Empire. The Battle of Endor, a pivotal victory for the Rebel Alliance in the Galactic Civil War, led to Emperor Palpatine's death, and in its aftermath Nivers, just like a number of other officers, became a warlord. In the weeks that followed the events at Endor, Nivers made a move to seize control of Tandankin, a planet situated in the Outer Rim and located within the region of space that he considered to be under his command. He declared Imperial authority over the world, and informed the people of Tandankin that they would be forced to work for him, or suffer the consequences of resistance.

However, his declaration was abruptly interrupted when Rogue Squadron, flying their X-wing starfighters under the banner of the New Republic, appeared suddenly in the skies above Tandankin and opened fire upon Nivers's forces, much to the delight of the beleaguered inhabitants. The engagement was relatively short, and saw the destruction of the Grand Moff's TIE fighters before they had a chance to even engage. Ultimately, the Rebels were able to capture Nivers and the remaining Imperial forces. The Grand Moff's occupation, which had lasted less than a day, was brought to an end. Warlord Zsinj, who was a rival of Nivers, incorporated the remnants of the Grand Moff's territory into his own domain, and a significant number of Nivers's former followers would eventually join the forces commanded by Ennix Devian, the self-proclaimed Supreme Commander, in the Spawn Nebula.

Personality and traits

Nivers, an Imperial Grand Moff with white hair, became a warlord following the Emperor's demise. His control extended to a region of space that encompassed Tandankin. Upon attempting to assert dominance over the world's population, Nivers made it clear that they would either be forced to labor for the Empire or face dire consequences.

Behind the scenes

Grand Moff Nivers made an appearance in the X-Wing Rogue Squadron Special, a comic book penned by Ryder Windham. This comic was initially released in 1996 as a promotional tie-in with Apple Jacks by the Kellogg Company. His first name was revealed within "The Imperial Warlords: Despoilers of an Empire," an article published on the Star Wars Blog.

Nivers was briefly referenced in the initial draft of the Star Wars Insider 66 article Who's Who: Imperial Grand Admirals, originally titled Dirty Dozen: The Imperial Grand Admirals, which was intended for inclusion in an issue of Star Wars Gamer magazine. In Dirty Dozen, Nivers was identified as one of the "worthy adversaries" recognized by Grand Admiral Rufaan Tigellinus among the Grand Moffs. This reference was ultimately removed before Who's Who was published in 2003.
