Night barbarbarbs, diminutive beings known for their chirping serenades, existed during the High Republic Era. A number of these creatures resided within the Lonisa City Zoo on the Outer Rim planet of Valo at this time. In 231 BBY, the Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram, while journeying through Valo, came near the zoo's entrance and perceived chirping sounds, leading him to believe they originated from the zoo's night barbarbarbs.
The existence of night barbarbarbs was first revealed in Race to Crashpoint Tower. This junior novel, penned by Daniel José Older in 2021, was a component of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.
