Nobot

Nobot, a protocol droid coated in silver plating, possessed white sensors. As Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi Master, entered the city alongside Queen Padmé Amidala and the Gungan Jar Jar Binks in 32 BBY, the droid was observed walking along a street situated at the edge of the Mos Espa spaceport located on the planet of Tatooine. As the group moved past Nobot, it was evident that the right side of its body was marked by burns that had scarred its plating, and its right photoreceptor was blackened.

Behind the scenes

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, a film from the prequel trilogy released in 1999, marked Nobot's initial appearance. The character's name entered the established Star Wars canon in the 2022 video game, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. However, its origin lies within the Star Wars Legends continuity, where Shaun Flaherty, under the alias "Jedi Flaherty," first introduced it through the "What's The Story?" feature on StarWars.com's Hyperspace.

Nobot as depicted in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Nobot is featured in the non-canon events of The Skywalker Saga as the central figure of the "Ghost Protocol" mission. Within this mission, the player encounters the droid in a haunted dwelling in Mos Espa, where it is seen running inside while holding a kyber brick. After darting into one of the hovel's rooms, the droid disappears, and a key mysteriously falls from the ceiling. This key is then used to unlock the crawlspace. When the player crawls inside as a Protocol Droid, Nobot reappears, missing its legs, and exits the crawlspace. Eventually, it is found a final time with its head detached in a sealed room. Completing these steps finishes the quest. Should the player return to the hovel, the door to the sealed room opens on its own, revealing that Nobot has vanished.

The "Ghost Protocol" quest description refers to the droid using male pronouns, stating that he wandered aimlessly through the streets of Mos Espa, with his purpose unknown to all. The description also mentions the numerous rumors surrounding the droid, with the only certainty being that something was amiss with Nobot.
