Doctor Nomi Rhane, a female Twi'lek, served as a biologist during the era of the Galactic Civil War.
After the Battle of Yavin, Dr. Nomi Rhane found herself working as part of the Galactic Empire's science personnel at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility located on the planet Dathomir. Within this facility, clandestine and perilous scientific investigations were underway for the Empire, with the goal of repurposing the terrifying Blackwing virus into a bioweapon. Dr. Rhane, a microbiologist, conducted her work on level 2 of the research lab. In 1 ABY, Nomi Rhane was present at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility when an incident led to the virus escaping its containment. This resulted in the deaths of most individuals in the area, transforming them into undead beings. However, Dr. Rhane managed to survive the outbreak and became part of a small group of survivors, including Dr. Stane Tritan, Dr. Pram Dramango, Marpo Glenfik, and TK-217. These survivors sought refuge in a maintenance room that provided access to an emergency escape ladder. Despite their efforts to fend off the undead attacks, they were unable to open the magnetically sealed hatch, leaving them trapped. Eventually, a group of spacers arrived at the research facility. Following instructions provided by Nomi Rhane, they were able to successfully unlock the hatch, clearing the way for the emergency exit. Furthermore, Dr. Rhane directed the spacers to shut down the facility's ventilation system to prevent the virus from spreading beyond the research center. The survivors and the spacers then utilized the escape ladder to exit the facility. Upon reaching the surface, specifically the courtyard of the Imperial Research and Prison Facility, they were attacked by the undead. The spacers escorted the survivors to Camp Epsilon, a nearby location where a group of refugees and a functional Lambda-class shuttle awaited them. Ultimately, the survivors, including Nomi Rhane, along with the spacers and the refugees from Camp Epsilon, managed to escape the Quarantine Zone together aboard the shuttle.
Nomi Rhane made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its shutdown on December 15, 2011. Nomi Rhane was integrated into the game through "Game Update 14," which was released on October 12, 2009.
