The Imperial administrative division called Oversector Outer encompassed the majority of sectors and regions located within the Outer Rim. This Oversector included areas like the Seswenna sector along with the Velcar Free Commerce Zone. Its establishment followed the considerable expansion of the Greater Seswenna Oversector after the Clone Wars ended. The Outer Rim Imperial Fleet was responsible for patrolling Oversector Outer.
This Oversector, largely comprising the Outer Rim, was a direct result of the Tarkin Doctrine. Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin was initially placed in command, and following his death, Ardus Kaine succeeded him.
Following the Battle of Endor, Kaine retained control over the Outer Rim portion of the New Territories and moved the Oversector Outer's capital from Eriadu to Entralla. Using this fragment of the Oversector Outer, he established the Pentastar Alignment in 7 ABY.
