Captain Oxus functioned as one of Han Solo's lenders. The "Terror of the Outlands" was his moniker, and he was a corpulent and battle-scarred pirate leader.
A TDF104 was under Oxus's ownership, with Solo, Chewbacca, Jabba the Hutt, and Montross Holdaack forming the crew. With the intention of profiting from the 2,000,000 credits bounty for delivering Luke Starkiller and his droids to Ogana Major, Solo simulated a reactor failure and evacuated the ship; Montross and Chewbacca were the only crew members who remained when Solo departed.
The surname of Clieg Whitsun was replaced with "Oxus" in the initial iteration of the Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
Oxus was portrayed as a Han Solo's creditor in the second draft of the film's script, titled Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars. In the third draft of the original movie, he was re-characterized and renamed as Jabba the Hutt.
