The Panther police interceptor functioned as an airspeeder and was a vehicle employed by the Coruscant Security Force. Its purpose was to conduct law enforcement activities on the planet of Coruscant.
Police officers and GU-series Guardian police droids belonging to the Coruscant Security Force made use of the Coruscant police speeder to assist with patrols on Coruscant during the period of the Clone Wars. A single pilot operated the vehicle, which also had capacity for two passengers. The rear section included bars designed for transporting prisoners. The vehicle's jurisdiction was displayed on its side. Positioned on top were a set of red and blue police lights.
During the time of the Clone Wars, police droids used the Panther in an attempt to chase down bounty hunters Chata Hyoki and Robonino. These bounty hunters had been employed by Count Dooku with the intention of attacking Senator Padmé Amidala. The police pursued the pair through the skylanes of Coruscant, but they were unsuccessful in their attempts to capture them.
The initial visual representation of the police cruiser occurred in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series episode titled "Pursuit of Peace." The episode depicts the cruisers as being part of Coruscant police sector 417.
