In the year 22 BBY, the Naboo planet's Lake Country region, situated in the Mid Rim, was home to the Pastoral Collective. This organization oversaw the communally held water meadows and pastures. During the spring and summer seasons, appointed herders from the collective cared for the large, docile herds of native shaak species. These shaak grazed on the rich upland meadows, requiring supervision due to their tendency to wander off cliffs near waterfalls or get trapped on rocky outcrops. The Festival of Glad Arrival took place in these meadows each springtime.
The initial mention of the Pastoral Collective within the new Star Wars canon occurred in issue number fifty-four of the magazine series Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon. This issue was released by De Agostini around January 13, 2016. However, the original introduction of the Collective was by Simon Beecroft and Curtis Saxton in the 2003 Star Wars Legends reference book titled Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
