Phaa Anor

Phaa Anor was a male Yuuzhan Vong belonging to the intendant caste, and he was related to Nom Anor. Serving under Nom Anor, Phaa Anor fulfilled tasks for his relative during the invasion of the galaxy – a galaxy that the Yuuzhan Vong had selected as their target. However, following the devastating loss at the Battle of Ebaq 9 in 28 ABY and Nom Anor's subsequent disappearance, Phaa Anor, alongside most Yuuzhan Vong, came to the conclusion that his superior was dead. Prior to the Ebaq 9 debacle, Nom Anor had assured the Yuuzhan Vong leadership of a significant triumph, unaware that his intelligence had been compromised. This led to his forced disappearance upon being confronted about the failure. Later in that year, Phaa Anor was contacted by his relative, who requested that he relay information regarding the existence of a mysterious living planet to Shimrra Jamaane, the Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong.

Biography

Phaa Anor was the domain cousin of Nom Anor and later served under him.

Born within Domain Anor, Phaa Anor held the rank of intendant, a position within the Yuuzhan Vong society denoting expertise in logistics and administration. Phaa spent his early years in a crèche alongside his domain cousin, Nom Anor, who would eventually become his commanding officer. The two Yuuzhan Vong maintained communication through villips, the organic communication devices utilized by their species. In 25 ABY, the Yuuzhan Vong species commenced their invasion of another galaxy, following millennia spent traversing the Intergalactic Void in search of a new world. During the ensuing Yuuzhan Vong War, Phaa Anor's crèche cousin was assigned the task of destabilizing the New Republic, which was the primary galactic government and the target of the Yuuzhan Vong fleet. Phaa Anor remained subordinate to his crèche cousin until three years into the conflict. At that time, Nom Anor's misjudgment in failing to recognize that his extensive spy network had been compromised resulted in a significant Yuuzhan Vong defeat during the Battle of Ebaq 9.

Shimrra Jamaane, the Supreme Overlord and leader of the Yuuzhan Vong, demanded Nom Anor's capture. Consequently, Nom Anor vanished after the battle. After a year had passed without any information regarding his superior, Phaa Anor, like most of the Yuuzhan Vong, presumed his relative to be dead. Therefore, when Phaa Anor received a villip communication from his crèche cousin, the intendant was taken aback. He informed Nom Anor that he would be obligated to report the conversation to Jamaane. To his growing astonishment, Anor was instructed by his relative to do precisely that, as Nom Anor asserted that he possessed crucial information for the Supreme Overlord. Phaa Anor was directed to seek an audience with Jamaane, conveying the message that Nom Anor was located on the living planet Zonama Sekot—a world of legend greatly feared by the Supreme Overlord—along with Nen Yim, Jamaane's personal scientist, who had disappeared from the Supreme Overlord's palace several days prior.

Phaa Anor was skeptical, but Nom Anor urged him to deliver the message, along with the villip itself, to Jamaane with utmost speed and secrecy. Questioning this, Anor inquired as to why he should comply with this request. However, he was swayed by his former superior's response: Nom Anor anticipated substantial rewards for sending the message, and therefore Phaa Anor could expect considerable rewards for delivering it. Acting upon his relative's request, Phaa Anor conveyed the message, and the villip, to Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane.

Personality and traits

Phaa Anor demonstrated loyalty to the Yuuzhan Vong empire over his crèche cousin, acknowledging his obligations to his superiors. He exhibited traits of surprise, thoughtfulness, and ambition, influenced by Nom Anor's suggestion that he would be compensated for providing information on his crèche cousin's whereabouts.

Behind the scenes

Phaa Anor made his initial appearance via villip in Greg Keyes' 2003 novel, The New Jedi Order: The Final Prophecy, a component of The New Jedi Order series.
