The Polan-717 Jedi transport, often shortened to just the Polan, represented a class of shuttle employed by the Jedi Order throughout the age of the High Republic Era. These shuttles were produced by the Lantillian ShipWrights and were known for their adaptability in both routine tasks and extended voyages.
The debut of the Polan-717 Jedi transport occurred in the Disney+ series The Acolyte, specifically in the initial two episodes, "Lost / Found" and "Revenge / Justice," which were released concurrently on June 4, 2024. Before The Acolyte premiered, the Polan's initial visual was in the series' trailer, released on March 19 of that year. Its official designation came via an entry in the StarWars.com Databank published on May 4.
The name "Polan" was chosen as a tribute to a deceased friend of Leslye Headland, the showrunner. Headland, in conversations with Kevin Jenkins, the production designer, characterized the Polan as a mobile base of operations for Jedi peacekeepers. This influenced Jenkins to design the craft with all necessary amenities. Given that The Acolyte is situated in an unexplored period, the series' starships received completely new aesthetic designs.
