Pran, also referred to as Mother Pran, was a human female living on the planet of Carnelion IV.
Back in 29 BBY, Pran, together with Kolara, another inhabitant of Carnelion IV, were piloting an airship during a conflict above the planet's surface. Their aircraft was taking intense fire when Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan [Anakin Skywalker](/article/anakin_skywalker], two Jedi who had recently crash-landed there in response to a distress beacon, employed the Force to telekinesis their failing vessel toward a safe spot on a cliff, enabling their survival. Pran immediately produced a pair of pistols and aimed them at the robed individuals, instructing Kolara to distance herself from Skywalker, who then informed her that they were Jedi answering the distress call. Pran and Kolara exchanged puzzled glances, and Pran questioned Skywalker about the nature of a Jedi.
Before any explanation could be offered by the Jedi, the group was attacked by a Closed airgun. Seeking shelter, Pran and Kolara took cover behind a ridge, hoping the Closed airgun would eliminate the Jedi and leave them unharmed. When Obi-Wan and Anakin joined them in their hiding place, Pran became incensed, convinced that the Closed would pursue them and annihilate them all. After Obi-Wan used a saber throw to destroy the airgun, Anakin saved the ship's pilot, Grecker. Pran, angered by this, demanded to know why the Jedi hadn't allowed him to perish. Anakin explained that it was against the Jedi code, prompting her to draw her pistols and initiate a standoff with the Closed. When Anakin used his lightsaber to disable their firearms, she and Grecker brandished knives and attempted to attack each other until Obi-Wan used the Force to disarm them. The Jedi then requested an explanation for the deadly conflict between the Open and Closed, and Pran stated that the Closed had initiated the war that had devastated Carnelion IV. When Obi-Wan proposed leaving them on the mountain's peak, Pran reluctantly agreed with Grecker that they would not survive without assistance.
During their descent into the Celadon Sea, Pran and Grecker overheard Anakin mentioning a distress signal. She then surprisingly sided with Grecker on Anakin's suggestion to construct an airship using salvaged components from both Open and Closed airships. Once the ship was operational, Mother Pran took the controls as the pilot.
During their journey, Pran spotted a kite carrying a package. She ordered Kolara to move to the rear of the cabin as she maneuvered the airship close enough for Grecker to snatch it from the sky. Upon confirming that it was a piece of art sent by the Scavenger, they discarded it from the ship. Shortly afterward, Kolara noticed Anakin working on his lightsaber and realized his exceptional skill in repairing technology. She summoned Mother Pran, who then presented Anakin with a central processor and asked if he could repair it. Upon his success, Mother Pran recognized that he could repair all of the Open's war machines, enabling them to win the war. Praising Kolara for recognizing Anakin's talents, she quickly devised a plan to abduct him. When their airship came under attack by fishers, Pran apologized and knocked the padawan unconscious, escaping with him and Kolara on a small flyer. Once they were clear, she circled back and destroyed the airship with the flyer's guns.
Pran piloted the flyer to the Fortress-Home of the Open, and demonstrated Anakin's abilities to the rest of the clan by restarting a battle droid using the repaired central processor. After restoring all of their war machines, Pran inquired about the location of the distress signal from Anakin, claiming she wanted to save Obi-Wan. The padawan realized she was deceiving him, but provided the directions hoping he could accompany her to rescue his master. She gagged him and left him behind so that she and the other Open could go and finish their war.
Mother Pran arrived at Sera's fortress museum and found it under siege by the Closed. She proceeded to attack them and Obi-Wan, who was trying to defend the building. She confronted the Jedi and was about to shoot him when he was saved by Anakin. Pran stopped fighting when the Republic fleet that Obi-Wan had called appeared in the sky above the battle.
Pran possessed white hair and light blue eyes. A red tattoo was located above her right eye.
Pran was known to be an aggressive and ruthless warrior and leader, determined to secure victory for her faction. However, she exhibited a weakness to mind tricks, as evidenced by her susceptibility to Obi-Wan's influence during their initial encounter, causing her to lower her weapons.
