Prowler 1000 seeker droid

The Prowler 1000 seeker droid, alternatively referred to as the Arakyd seeker droid or just the Prowler 1000, represented a compact probe droid utilized by the Republic's clone troopers during the era of the Clone Wars.

Characteristics

This diminutive, repulsorlift-propelled seeker droid, manufactured by Arakyd Industries, was highly effective at performing reconnaissance tasks. The Arakyd Prowler 1000, purpose-built for military applications, incorporated a frontal photoreceptor array boasting a diverse suite of scanners and detection technologies. A command antenna extended from the top of the drone's rounded head, enabling clone commanders to directly transmit instructions to their assigned seeker groups. In cases where proof of a successful capture was required, two grappling arms located beneath the main body were used to retrieve the target. To facilitate target tracking during nighttime operations or in low-light environments, these seekers were outfitted with searchlights.

History

A Prowler 1000 seeker droid

Following Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's execution of Order 66, Commander Cody deployed his entire contingent of seeker droids into the depths of the sinkhole city of Utapau with the mission to locate and eliminate Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. As searchlights illuminated the caverns beneath Pau City, two specific seekers diligently pursued General Kenobi; however, instead of finding the elusive Jedi, the drones stumbled upon an enraged nos monster. In defense of its offspring, the nos monster consumed one seeker in a single bite, then drove the second drone into the murky waters of its habitat. Obi-Wan exploited the brief conflict between the monster and the machine to escape, eventually fleeing the sinkhole planet.

Arakyd Prowler 1000 droids were present to witness the reconstruction of Darth Vader at the Imperial rehabilitation center. The Galactic Empire also utilized seeker droids to hunt down Jedi during the Great Jedi Purge. Building on the success of the Prowler 1000, Arakyd Industries later developed the Viper probe droid.

During the Galactic Civil War, a Prowler droid was stationed at a Star Tours transport hub, inquiring about the location of a suspected Rebel spy. The StarSpeeder carrying the spy departed however, causing the Prowler droid to be thrust into the vacuum of space.

At the onset of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Prowl was the designation of a Prowler 1000 exploration droid in the service of Finn Galfridian. Even a century after the war's conclusion, following the ascendance of the One Sith and the reborn Galactic Empire, the Prowler 1000 remained in service, with pirates such as Rav employing the droid as late as 137 ABY.
