R2-MK served as the R2-series astromech droid co-pilot to Mickey Mouse, a Jedi Master, during the time period encompassing both the downfall of the Galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The galactic adventures of R2-MK and Jedi Mickey were numerous. Uniquely, R2-MK's head featured modifications setting it apart from other droids of its series, most notably a plate designed to closely resemble the ears of its master's species.
This droid was presented as a real-life character and subsequently as a toy, available only at Disney Parks starting in Spring 2010. It was created to be the astromech droid belonging to "Jedi Mickey," a Mickey Mouse action figure wearing Jedi robes that was also a Disney exclusive. From 2010 onward, the droid and Mickey were showcased together at Star Wars Weekends.
