R6-D8 was an R6 astromech droid who served as Temmin Wexley's astromech within the ranks of the Resistance. During the Battle of Exegol, he met his end alongside his master when their T-70 X-wing starfighter was shot down into a Star Destroyer by the Sith Eternal forces, this occurred only moments prior to the arrival of the Citizens' Fleet.
Prior to his demise, R6-D8 became aware of Mister Bones, Wexley's previously reprogrammed B1-series battle droid, after examining his master's recorded logs. In an effort to please Wexley, R6-D8 attempted to become more aggressive. Nevertheless, he refrained from overriding the factory-installed safety protocols within his core programming.
R6-D8 made his initial appearance in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, although he was not named at that time. His identification was first established in the 2016 reference publication Poe Dameron: Flight Log.
Within the non-canonical video game LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Snap Wexley's astromech experiences a malfunction, necessitating the construction of a replacement. Snap has three options for this replacement: R2-D3, R4-P44, and Q7. However, the faulty astromech is not identified as R6-D8. The Lego Star Wars set called "Resistance X-Wing Fighter" includes Snap Wexley's X-Wing, but it lacks R6-D8 or any astromech unit.
