Rak'qua

The Rak'qua were a warlike tribe of Nautolans existing before and during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Description

A Rak'qua Aphotic.

This Nautolan tribe, the Rak'qua, primarily consisted of warriors, and they were governed by an overlord. They were also a religious organization that included several shamans. The Rak'qua's religious practices included prayers and dances performed around altars, with the hope of gaining protection and improved combat abilities. The Rak'qua possessed a profound sense of honor.

It is known that the Rak'qua utilized battle droids, such as I-10 Probe Droids, B2 super battle droids, K3-I Buzzer Droids, I-8 Black Widows, IT-4 Warning Droids, ESPY E.R. Droids, I-7 Constructs and rescind E.R. Droids. Furthermore, they trained mereks for use as war beasts.

History

In the years leading up to the Battle of Yavin, the Rak'qua made their way to the Bright Jewel system and seized control of Station Gamma. This space station had been used as a research facility by Jorj Car'das' organization. The Rak'qua transformed the station into a fortified base, defended by a significant number of Rak'qua warriors, battle droids, and war beasts, including mereks and a large creature referred to as Ageaughu. While all of the station's original occupants were eliminated during the takeover, no conflict arose between the Rak'qua and Car'das from the nearby Tansarii Point Station, and the two stations maintained a relatively peaceful coexistence. Additionally, the Rak'qua entered into an agreement with the Galactic Empire to reinforce their position, permitting the Empire to install a communication system on Station Gamma.

Following the Battle of Yavin, the tension between Station Gamma and Tansarii Point Station ultimately escalated into open warfare. The conflict was primarily ignited by a corrupt arms dealer operating in the Bright Jewel system, who bribed individuals on both sides to profit from the resulting conflict by selling weapons. Car'das dispatched soldiers from Tansarii Point Station to engage the Rak'qua on Station Gamma. At that point, the Rak'qua were under the leadership of Overlord Rrynt'vor.

In 1 ABY, groups of spacers allied with Car'das, including a genetically altered Twi'lek, joined the battle on Station Gamma, resulting in substantial losses for the Rak'qua. Later, Lercer Gaia, a Bothan spy, uncovered the arms dealer's involvement in instigating the conflict. Armed with this information, Officer Antom Moria successfully convinced both factions that the war was pointless, thereby preventing further violence.

Meanwhile, the Rak'qua violated their agreement with the Empire and disabled the Imperial communication system installed on Station Gamma. Concerned about this development, Captain Thrawn sent Imperial Agent Falrey to Tansarii Point Station. Falrey then recruited a group of loyal Imperial spacers who infiltrated Station Gamma to gather intelligence regarding the Rak'qua's betrayal.

Behind the scenes

The Rak'qua made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, which was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its closure on December 15, 2011. The Rak'qua were incorporated into the game as part of the "New Player Tutorial," which was introduced with the release of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
