Ramiz was a Human male farmer residing on the planet Aduba-3 in the Outer Rim territories during the Galactic Civil War period. As a resident of the village Onacra, Ramiz faced a threat to his way of life when the criminal Serji-X Arrogantus and his Cloud-Riders gang arrived at Onacra, demanding yearly tribute. In the year 0 ABY, the villagers reached their limit, leading Ramiz to travel to the spaceport of Tun Aduban seeking someone to protect his village. His plea was answered by Rebel icon Han Solo, who, in response, established the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3 to combat the Cloud-Riders.
Ramiz, a Human from the Outer Rim planet of Aduba-3, spent his days as a farmer within the village of Onacra, situated in one of Aduba-3's less prosperous regions. Similar to his fellow villagers, Ramiz sustained himself through the limited crops he could cultivate, along with raising banthas for both sustenance and transport. The village of Ramiz was regularly subjected to torment by bandits and raiders who preyed on the region's struggling farmers. The most notorious of these groups was the Cloud-Riders, a brutal gang under the command of former pro swoop racer Serji-X Arrogantus. Once every year, the Cloud-Riders would descend upon Onacra to exact tribute, unleashing destruction if their demands were not met, which included burning crops, stampeding banthas, and abducting women.
In the year 0 ABY, the inhabitants of Onacra reached their breaking point. Representing his village, Ramiz, accompanied by two others, journeyed to the spaceport of Tun Aduban, in search of someone to confront the Cloud-Riders. Ramiz discovered his champion within Locru's Central Saloon: Han Solo, the smuggler and Rebel hero who had paused on Aduba-3 after his contribution to the famous Rebel victory during the Battle of Yavin. Despite Solo's initial involvement in a large bar fight disrupting Ramiz's initial attempts, the villager was finally able to convey his desperate situation, offering food and lodging in exchange for assistance. Solo accepted the offer and assembled a group, creating the makeshift militia known as the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3 to protect Onacra.
A simple man from Aduba-3, Ramiz desired nothing more than a peaceful life in his village, tending to his crops—a life he considered "lowly". However, the attacks by Serji-X Arrogantus and his Cloud-Riders endangered this existence, filling him with fear and disgust toward the former swoop racer and his gang. While Ramiz couldn't defend Onacra alone, by 0 ABY, he was desperate enough to take action. When recruiting Han Solo to defend his village in Tun Aduban, Ramiz humbled himself before the smuggler, repeatedly addressing him as "master" and pleading for help. Ramiz possessed light skin and, by that time, had gray hair.

The character of Ramiz debuted in Star Wars (1977) 7, authored by Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin and published in 1977. Although he was unnamed in his initial appearance, his name was revealed in the subsequent issue, Star Wars (1977) 8. Ramiz and his two companions underwent significant changes in appearance between the two issues, despite no indication of time passing. In Star Wars 7, they sported straight black hair in bowl cuts, clean-shaven faces, and green robes with red trim. By Star Wars (1977) 8, their robes had become white, while Ramiz suddenly had stubble and short, blond, wavy hair, and wore a helmet with goggles.
