A ramship designated a type of starship whose primary function was to ram other ships in space combat. Typically, ramships were constructed using standard starship hulls, however, their internal spaces were filled with explosive materials. Given the extremely perilous nature of these missions, very few sentients were willing to pilot these vessels; consequently, many were fully automated, such as robot ramships.
Pirates frequently employed ramships, and on occasion, so did renegade planetary governments, for example, the Sacorrian Triad during the Battle for Centerpoint Station in 18 ABY, where they used altered frigates. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Yuuzhan Vong invaders would sometimes ram ships into enemy objectives, including starships, orbital platforms, and even the surfaces of planets, notably during the conquest of Coruscant in 27 ABY. The Ssi-ruuvi Fw'Sen-class picket ship was also capable of serving as a ramship.
