Heavy armor of the Rebel assault type was employed by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the time of the Galactic Civil War; it is categorized as armor in general.

Specifically designed for contemporary warfare, Rebel assault armor was frequently utilized by soldiers who needed to maintain their nimbleness while also guaranteeing the highest possible level of defense against pulse-wave blasters. As a matter of fact, it provided significant protection against kinetic damage, but less protection against energy-based weaponry, such as blasters. The helmet, chest plate, left and right biceps, left and right bracers, gloves, leggings, and boots were all included in the full armor set. Standard suits needed to be biolinked to the user to prevent unauthorized use; also, because they were so expensive to produce, this type of assault armor was an uncommon sight in combat.
The Rebel assault forest camouflage armor, a variation of this armor, was created to assist Rebel assault soldiers in blending in with wooded settings.
The Rebel Special Ops Officer armor, also known as the Rebel Special Ops armor, was another variation. This armor was first created for Special Operations officers, but it was eventually given to any Alliance soldier who had attained the rank of commander by demonstrating exceptional combat prowess on the battlefield.
Heavy Weapons Specialists occasionally employed Rebel assault armor following the Battle of Yavin.
In the year 1 ABY, certain spacers who sided with the Alliance to Restore the Republic were given camouflaged Rebel assault armor in exchange for their services and support of specific high-profile Rebellion leaders while they were in hiding at the Hidden Rebel Base on Corellia. The Alliance organizer of the Remembrance Day event on Corellia wore Rebel assault armor that same year.
Also in 1 ABY, a spacer went to several planets in the galaxy and found the nine parts of a Rebel battle armor before putting the entire set together.
During the Galactic Civil War, the Mistryl Assault Troopers wore armor that had a helmet that looked a lot like the Rebel assault armor helmet.
The 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts before it was shut down on December 15, 2011, featured the Rebel assault armor. With the release of the "Combat Upgrade" on April 27, 2005, the Rebel assault armor was one of the Rebel faction armors added to the game. The revamped "Rebel Theme Park," which was launched with the "Chapter 6" update on May 22, 2007, included the Rebel Assault Forest Camouflage Armor in the game.
