The Red Desert existed on the southern part of Talss, which itself was a continent on the planet of Tython. It was a desert area.
Far removed from civilization and steeped in history, the Red Desert drew in those wishing to distance themselves from society, as well as those with an adventurous spirit. Close to the ground, the strange blood spites, part creature, part planet, hunted for warm blood. The Red Desert's eerie atmosphere was made worse by the presence of the vast and deserted Old City, an old complex situated far within its boundaries. The Je'daii Order had searched the city, but they were unable to find the hypergate, and its existence became a matter of myth. The Frontiersman Osamael Or was driven by tales of a Gree hypergate supposedly buried far beneath the surface, leading him to explore the area, after which he vanished from the historical record.
