The Relby blaster pistol, though effective, wasn't a common sight across the galaxy, serving as a blaster pistol. Often, other pistols were favored, for example, the DL-44. The Smuggler had previously used a couple of these. This pistol was available in three models: Rough, Retooled, and Sporting. Furthermore, it had four variants: Carbine, Repeating, Target, and Assault. Blastech produced a line of similar-looking pistols under their own brand.
After escaping Imperial custody, Riley provided The Smuggler with a Rough Target model. Later, after an encounter with Happy Dapp, the pistol received upgrades. Furthermore, he acquired numerous Rough Assault and Repeating models, finding them prevalent among rival gangs like the Black Hole Gang, and even among civilians. These models were exclusively found on Burnin Konn. The Relby K-23 blaster pistol shares a loose connection, displaying a somewhat similar design and originating from the same manufacturer.
Three models of this blaster were available: Rough, Retooled, and Sporting. The Rough model was the most affordable and easiest to upgrade, but it was also the weakest. The Retooled model, a middle-ground option, featured a cone nozzle on the barrel, offering enhanced effectiveness at a higher cost than the Rough model. The Sporting model, equipped with a scope and a power pack beneath the barrel, stood as the most effective, yet most expensive, choice. Additionally, four variants existed: Repeating, Carbine, Assault, and Target. Carbine variants prioritized lightweight design, but were generally considered the least desirable due to sacrificing other attributes. Repeating models offered a higher rate of fire, discharging in bursts of three bolts. This came at the expense of accuracy and range, making it suitable primarily for close-quarters combat. The Assault model excelled in damage and range, but its accuracy suffered slightly. The Target model, regarded by some as the best, emphasized accuracy and range, resulting in less powerful bolts but a higher likelihood of hitting the intended target. Visually, all models and variants appeared identical, requiring expertise to differentiate them.
