The DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, alternatively referred to as simply a DL-44 blaster pistol, represented a heavy blaster pistol model manufactured by BlasTech Industries.
This DL-44 heavy blaster pistol saw usage throughout the years encompassing both the Galactic Republic era and the Age of the Empire. Renowned as one of the most formidable blaster pistols present in the galaxy, it was capable of inflicting substantial damage at close quarters; however, it was prone to rapid overheating. The DL-44's capacitor is capable of charging a laser bolt with double the power without causing the weapon to overheat. Its impressive firepower, especially for a pistol, coupled with its maintained accuracy, rendered it a favored choice among military personnel, as well as bounty hunters and smugglers. The DL-44 design facilitated easy modification, enabling Solo to implement various alterations, including, at one point, the removal of the blaster's motion-sensitive barrel scope. It is also possible to reconfigure this pistol into a blaster rifle by attaching an extended barrel to the existing flash-suppressor, disassembling the current D3x macroscope, and adding an attachable stock. Tobias Beckett utilized this configuration within the trenches of Mimban before he disassembled his DL-44 and gifted it to Han Solo, who subsequently employed it for the remainder of his life.
During the Clone Wars conflict, the mercenary droid designated AD-W4 employed one during fighting against Jedi Master Mace Windu on the planet Hissrich. The Twi'lek Freedom Fighter known as Cham Syndulla also wielded this type of pistol. During the Imperial Era, the Weequay pirate named Hondo Ohnaka made use of this specific model. Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger possessed a DL-44 throughout the years preceding the Battle of Yavin. Luke Skywalker was also an owner of a DL-44 during his initial involvement with the Rebel Alliance. Rebel pilots Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles both carried this blaster pistol as well. Upon Ben Solo's induction into the Knights of Ren, he received a new uniform complete with a holster containing a blaster visually identical to those used by his father and uncle. During the Cold War, Venisa Doza was seen carrying a DL-44 in a holster on her hip. Kazuda Xiono utilized a DL-44 on various occasions, including one provided to him by Poe Dameron during their exploration of Station Theta Black, and again during their exploration of Sector Epsilon 51-3 where Xiono employed it to eliminate a Spider probe droid. Synara San threw a DL-44 to Xiono that belonged to the Warbird gang.
