As an arms manufacturer, BlasTech Industries operated from the Clone Wars period (22 BBY) until the Cold War era (29-34 ABY). The company is well-known for producing the DC-15 family of blaster rifles and carbines for the Grand Army of the Republic, in addition to the E-11 medium blaster rifle that was used by both the Stormtrooper Corps and the Imperial Army. Furthermore, they produced the DH-17 blaster pistol, the A300 blaster rifle, and the DL-18 blaster pistol used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. After the Galactic Concordance was signed and the New Republic replaced the Galactic Empire, BlasTech created a subsidiary, the Sonn-Blas Corporation, with Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc., to function within the First Order's territory. Merr-Sonn continued operations throughout the Cold War and the First Order-Resistance War, arming the First Order's stormtrooper corps with F-11D blaster rifles and SE-44C blaster pistols.

During the time of the Galactic Republic, BlasTech Industries was a major manufacturer of weapons across the galaxy. Following the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic by the Kaminoan cloners, BlasTech was chosen to produce their armaments, which they did through the DC-15 family of blaster weapons. This encompassed the DC-15A blaster rifle and the DC-15A blaster carbine, along with more specialized forms of weaponry. Despite favoring the Confederacy of Independent Systems, BlasTech's parent company, the Techno Union, was able to uphold its tenuous claim of corporate neutrality, largely due to BlasTech's significance to the Republic's war efforts. During the Age of the Empire, BlasTech also obtained many contracts with the Galactic Empire, producing the well-known E-11 medium blaster rifle and its specialized variations for the Stormtrooper Corps in addition to the Imperial Army and Navy. Around this period, the company established a weapons laboratory in the Easthills near the planet Lothal's Capital City.
After the New Republic achieved victory in the Battle of Jakku, and with the surrender or escape of all remaining Imperial factions still operating in the galaxy, Chancellor Mon Mothma and former Grand Vizier Mas Amedda, who was acting as Galactic Emperor, signed the Galactic Concordance in Chandrila to officially conclude the Galactic Civil War. Following the Empire's demise, the Industries remained active. The New Republic utilized the EL-16HFE blaster rifle, which was produced by BlasTech. The IB-94 blaster pistol, one of which was wielded by the Mandalorian Din Djarin, was created by BlasTech at some point. Paz Vizsla, a fellow member of Djarin's Tribe, utilized the M-55 Medium Repeating Blaster as a Heavy Infantry Mandalorian.

The New Republic-Imperial treaty forbade the deployment of armed stormtrooper forces across the galaxy, along with the sale of arms to them. To get around this restriction, BlasTech, together with munitions manufacturer Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc., established a subsidiary known as Sonn-Blas Corporation to produce and provide weapons for the First Order's Stormtrooper Corps. This subsidiary was operational from the Cold War era to the First Order-Resistance War, manufacturing blasters and other various armaments for the First Order's militias. The Resistance of General Leia Organa, the First Order's rival, used BlastTech EL-16s and EL-16HFEs that were by that point outdated.

BlasTech Industries conceived and manufactured a large number of blaster pistol models and designs during its existence. Ranging from the powerful DL-44 heavy blaster pistol to the "light" EC-17 hold-out blaster, along with countless other models intended for both private and state use. The automatic DH-17 blaster pistol proved to be so effective that the army and navy personnel of both the Alliance and Imperial Military used the model during the Galactic Civil War. BlasTech also produced the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol favored by Han Solo.

BlasTech also manufactured other blaster types, including blaster rifles and blaster carbines. One example of a blaster rifle produced by the company was the DC-15A blaster rifle, which was identified as a heavy blaster rifle model. The E-11 medium blaster rifle was produced by BlasTech, with further "E-11" designs, such as the E-11s sniper rifle and E-11D blaster carbine, also being manufactured by BlasTech. Other blaster carbines produced by BlasTech included the EE-3 carbine rifle and EE-4 carbine rifle.
BlasTech was also capable of producing blaster cannons, such as the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon it produced, with Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. also being involved in its production. BlasTech also produced sniper rifles, such as the E-11s sniper rifle and DH-447 sniper rifle.
BlasTech Industries both designed and manufactured a number of blaster models that could be configured for a variety of different roles. The Alliance to Restore the Republic utilized the A-180 and A280-CFE. Both blaster pistols could be reconfigured into both a sniper rifle and an assault rifle.
The DL-44 heavy blaster pistol could be converted into a blaster rifle through the addition of an extended barrel and a stock.
The company also marketed reconfigurable blasters such as the A-300 blaster rifle, which allowed users to remove the long air-cooled barrel-shroud and the shoulder stock for increased mobility. A collapsing barrel could be extended to allow for greater accuracy without the necessity of the previously mentioned heavy barrel. It should be noted that the rifle could not be reduced to a pistol.
Apart from personal weapons, BlasTech also manufactured heavier weaponry that was equipped on vehicles. Ezra Bridger's speeder bike was equipped with twin JB-37 blaster cannons manufactured by BlasTech.
