The A-180 blaster, alternatively known as the A180 pistol or simply A-180, represented a modular blaster creation from BlasTech Industries. Its adaptable design allowed for easy reconfiguration between a blaster pistol, a blaster rifle, a sniper rifle/longblaster, or even a mobile ion launcher to suit diverse combat needs.
At its core, the pistol version had a trigger shaped like a crescent and an upper portion with a cylindrical design. To transform it into a blaster rifle, a specialized lock was attached to the top, securing a larger component to the front. The rifle version utilized a magazine that loaded from the side, bringing to mind the E-11. A barrel extension in conjunction with a retractable stock finalized the sniper configuration.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, one such weapon was carried by Jyn Erso of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
By 9 ABY, the A-180 saw usage among New Republic soldiers such as Lieutenant Lant Davan, and decades later, Resistance forces employed its sniper rifle form.
Matthew Savage participated in developing the conceptual artwork for both the blaster and its various expansion components.
A reconfigurable blaster variant was included with the Vintage-collection 3.75-inch Jyn Erso action figure, as well as the "Sergeant Jyn Erso" release within the Black Series line (2016).
