Lant Davan, known as "DC1," was a human male who served as both a soldier and a corrections officer. Within the New Republic Correctional Corps, he achieved the rank of lieutenant. He was the only organic crew member aboard the correctional transport named Bothan-5. In 9 ABY, Davan was in the transport's control room when a team of mercenaries infiltrated the vessel with the goal of freeing a prisoner.
During a tense standoff, Davan aimed his blaster at the invading criminals while holding up a tracking beacon. He threatened to notify the New Republic about their unauthorized entry. Despite the Mandalorian Din Djarin's desire to prevent fatalities, the mercenary Xi'an killed Davan by throwing a dagger at him; however, the soldier managed to activate the beacon before his demise. The majority of the mercenaries found themselves trapped on Bothan-5 as a result of their actions, and the team's leader, Migs Mayfeld, was sentenced to fifty years of imprisonment at the Karthon Chop Fields for his role in the incident and Davan's death.
In 9 ABY, Lant Davan, identified as "DC1," was a lieutenant in the New Republic Correctional Corps, working as both a soldier and a corrections officer. He functioned as the sole organic prison guard and crew member of Bothan-5, a highly secured correctional transport belonging to the New Republic, further protected by New Republic security droids. The transport was boarded near the Dilestri system by a team of mercenaries seeking to liberate the prisoner. After overcoming several New Republic N5 sentry droids, they reached the control room where Davan was stationed. The [soldier](/article/soldier] rose from his chair and aimed his A-180 blaster at the group of four mercenaries. He demanded that the intruders drop their blasters, but they slowly surrounded him.

Davan brandished a homing beacon, intending to summon New Republic reinforcements and deter the mercenaries. Migs Mayfeld, the team's leader, dismissed the soldier as an "egghead" and ordered him to lower the beacon. While Mayfeld and two other mercenaries intended to kill Davan, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin opposed this, attempting to negotiate with him. Mayfeld insisted on killing the soldier, leading to an argument between Djarin, Mayfeld, and the Devaronian Burg. This created a tense standoff while the corrections officer watched, slightly lowering his blaster. At that moment, the Twi'lek mercenary Xi'an threw a dagger at the soldier, resulting in his death, but not before he activated the beacon. After Xi'an retrieved her dagger, the mercenaries realized that New Republic reinforcements were incoming.

After leaving the control room to find Qin, the mercenaries betrayed Djarin and imprisoned him in a cell. However, the Mandalorian escaped and returned to the control room, where Davan's body remained. Djarin recovered Davan's beacon and then trapped the other mercenaries on Bothan-5 before departing with Qin. The Mandalorian attached Davan's beacon to the prisoner and delivered him to the space station where his client awaited, leading the New Republic reinforcements to their location.
Mayfeld received a fifty-year sentence at the Karthon Chop Fields, a New Republic correctional facility on the prison moon of Karthon, for his involvement in Davan's death and Qin's escape. Security logs from the correctional transport recorded Djarin's attempt to save Davan's life. When two New Republic pilots encountered the Mandalorian at the ice planet Maldo Kreis, they reviewed the security logs from Bothan-5 and decided to release Djarin, with Carson Teva citing his actions involving Davan as a reason.
Lant Davan was a human male characterized by light skin, brown hair, and blue eyes. He displayed anxiety and fear upon witnessing Din Djarin and his team entering the control room, ordering them to drop their blasters in a stuttering manner, which proved ineffective. When the team surrounded him, Davan quickly presented a tracking beacon as a threat, breathing heavily as the tension escalated. During Djarin's attempt to reason with him and inquire about his name, Davan responded hesitantly.

Davan wore a blue uniform featuring a New Republic insignia on the left shoulder. His white shoes resembled those worn by Imperial stormtroopers. Mayfeld sarcastically commented on the matching nature of the shoes with Davan's belt, which displayed an officer's disk on the buckle. He also wore a white helmet equipped with a black tinted visor, similar to those used by the Alderaanian consular security. The designation "DC1" was printed in Aurebesh on the right side of his helmet. He carried both a holstered A-180 blaster and a tracking beacon.

Lant Davan's initial appearance was in "Chapter 6: The Prisoner," the sixth episode of the first season of the live-action series The Mandalorian. The episode was broadcast on December 13, 2019 via Disney+. Credited as "New Republic soldier" in the episode's credits, the character was played by Matt Lanter, who had previously voiced Anakin Skywalker in various Star Wars projects, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as a cameo appearance. During a fight between Djarin and Burg in the control room, Davan's body was repositioned from its original death scene location, moving to the corner of the room. The 2021 reference book Star Wars: The Mandalorian Handbook by Matt Jones revealed Davan's first name, Lant, derived from the first four letters of Matt Lanter's surname.
Davan's design was conceived by artists Brian Matyas and Doug Chiang, who aimed to create a "cleaner and more romanticized" version of the Alderaanian Fleet Trooper from the 1977 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, to illustrate the evolution of the troopers following the New Republic's establishment. The artwork was labeled "New Republic police version 2C."

Lanter stated that he was invited to portray Davan by Dave Filoni, a former director of The Clone Wars and executive producer of The Mandalorian, through the actor's agent. The filming for "Chapter 6: The Prisoner," including Davan's scene, occurred between January 25 and February 2 of 2019. Lanter expressed his enjoyment of participating in the series, comparing it to working on a Star Wars film. He also mentioned that the costume for Davan required remaking after Filoni noticed a "slight wrong color," and due to the episode's secretive production, Lanter had to conceal his costume with a cloak when traveling to the set from his trailer.
Lanter recalled undergoing a body scan as Davan in a trailer, involving numerous photos taken from various angles and poses using many cameras. He believed the scan was standard procedure for all characters and speculated that it could be for an action figure. Lanter also revealed that during the initial take of Davan's death scene, he accidentally stumbled into a fake control panel, colliding with it and causing damage. This upset the set dresser, who cautioned Lanter to be more careful with the set in subsequent takes. Furthermore, Lanter confirmed that the moment when Migs Mayfeld mocked Davan's shoes was entirely improvised by Bill Burr, Mayfeld's actor.
In Joe Schreiber's 2021 junior novelization of The Mandalorian, Davan is described as being knocked unconscious by Xi'an's knife throw. However, contrary to the novel, the card "An Unexpected Complication" from the 2020 Topps Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 1 trading card set states that Xi'an killed the corrections officer. Additionally, in "Chapter 14: The Tragedy" of The Mandalorian's second season, which aired on December 4, 2020, Davan's death is listed among the crimes committed by Migs Mayfeld. This article relies on the information presented in the latter two sources.
