Corrections officer, alternatively referred to as correctional officer, was a title held by an officer within the ranks of the New Republic Correctional Corps. Lant Davan, a Lieutenant, occupied this role on the New Republic Correctional Transport named Bothan-5. Around 9 ABY, when the prison ship suffered an infiltration event in proximity to the Dilestri system, Davan confronted the intruders; however, he met his death via a thrown knife wielded by Xi'an, a Twi'lek mercenary. Corrections officers wore a blue uniform that featured the New Republic insignia displayed on the left shoulder area. Their footwear consisted of white shoes, visually similar to those worn by Imperial stormtroopers, and their belt had an officer's disk attached to the buckle. The officer's white helmet, equipped with a black tinted visor, was of the same design as those used by the Alderaanian consular security, and could have the officer's designation printed on its side in Aurebesh. They were potentially armed with an A-180 blaster inside a holstered on their belt, and a tracking beacon.
The debut appearance of a corrections officer occurred in "Chapter 6: The Prisoner," which is the sixth installment of the first season of The Mandalorian, a live-action television show created by Jon Favreau. Rick Famuyiwa directed the episode, which premiered on December 13, 2019, through the Disney+ streaming service. The role's designation was later clarified in Joe Schreiber's junior novelization based on The Mandalorian Season One, which saw its release in 2021.
