Venisa Doza was a pilot of the human female variety, serving both the Rebel Alliance and later the Resistance. She was also the wife of Captain Imanuel Doza and the mother of Torra Doza. She convinced her future husband to leave the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Subsequently, Venisa and her husband established themselves as proprietors of the Colossus refueling station located on Castilon within the Mid Rim Territories. As the Cold War began, Venisa recognized the First Order, the Imperial successor, as a significant danger to the galaxy. She then departed from her home and enrolled in the Resistance, a paramilitary organization established by rebel hero General Leia Organa. Venisa made sure to see her family annually on Torra's birthday. However, once war officially started between the First Order and the Resistance, a planned rendezvous with the Colossus, which was on the run in the Outer Rim, did not succeed. Subsequently, Venisa was apprehended by the First Order before escaping, and therefore missed her daughter's 16th birthday.
Although she missed this important day in her daughter's life, Venisa's separation from her family was brief. Leading Jade Squadron, she went back to the Colossus seeking assistance for a mission to rescue Resistance recruits who were stranded on Dantooine. The mission was successful even though one shuttle was destroyed by enemy fire. Jade Squadron was then granted temporary lodging on the Colossus. Later, Venisa spearheaded the defense of the platform during a skirmish in the Barabesh system, which resulted in the destruction of the Thunderer.
During the Galactic Civil War, Venisa, a human female, was a young woman who fought for the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a starfighter pilot. Jarek Yeager was one of her good friends and fellow pilots. During the war, Venisa and Yeager encountered an Imperial officer named Imanuel Doza. While on opposing sides, Venisa and Imanuel fell in love, and Venisa eventually convinced him to defect from the Empire.
After the war concluded, Venisa and Imanuel got married and eventually settled on the Colossus, an old Imperial supertanker fuel depot taken over by Imanuel, which was situated in the Mid Rim planet of Castilon. In 18 ABY, the Dozas welcomed a daughter, named Torra, and enjoyed a content life on the Colossus. In 28 ABY, Leia Organa, a Rebel hero, left the Galactic Senate and established a paramilitary organization named the Resistance after discovering that the First Order, an Imperial successor state, posed a greater threat to the New Republic than the galactic government was willing to acknowledge, and assumed the rank of General. Although Imanuel did not want to be involved in another war, Venisa felt obligated to help and left her home to join the Resistance, where she attained the rank of Commander. This was kept a secret by Imanuel and Torra, as well as Yeager, who had come to live on the station to hide and live a peaceful life after losing his family due to a racing accident caused by his younger brother just so he could win, and he didn't want to see him again.
During the Cold War, Venisa, flying her modified T-65B X-wing starfighter and accompanied by her astromech droid Torch, embarked on numerous adventures in service to the Resistance, including at Bakura and Lehon. On one occasion, Venisa and Torch evaded Terex, a rogue Agent from the First Order Security Bureau, by triggering explosions in a hangar and having Torch pilot a TIE/fo space superiority fighter as a distraction. She also ensured she never missed her annual reunion with her husband and daughter at a secret location for Torra's birthday. When open war erupted between the Resistance and First Order following the destruction of the New Republic in 34 ABY, Venisa served on the front lines.

Around the same time, the First Order began targeting the Colossus as part of their plans for the upcoming war, aiming to use the station as a supply point for their military, similar to other supertanker fuel depots they had seized. Eventually, after the station's occupation, the Colossus repelled the invaders and was forced to escape Castilon to avoid the First Order, just as the war formally commenced. In an attempt to maintain their annual tradition, Captain Doza activated a signal beacon while the station traveled through the Outer Rim, so Venisa would know where to meet. Venisa headed for the Colossus' location, but the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer named the Thunderer, commanded by Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre, which had been hunting the wayward space station, arrived first. The Colossus was forced to flee back into hyperspace after a skirmish, just before Venisa's arrival at the rendezvous point.
Before she could jump away, Venisa's starfighter was ensnared by a tractor beam, prompting her and Torch to quickly devise an escape plan that required the droid to feign complete destruction. Upon disembarking, Venisa refused Tierny's request for her name and was placed in a cell on the detention level. Along the way, Venisa was spotted by Tamara Ryvora and Jace Rucklin, former Colossus residents turned First Order TIE pilot cadets. Ryvora, a former employee of Yeager's, found Venisa's appearance strangely familiar and later decided to confront the prisoner in her cell. Having heard of Ryvora from Yeager, although they hadn't met before, Venisa quickly realized that the young pilot's loyalty to the First Order was fragile and wavering. She asked Ryvora for a reason for joining the Order that wasn't a recruitment point, which Ryvora couldn't provide. Torch, after being thrown into a garbage pile, arrived and shocked Ryvora unconscious just after Venisa chose to reveal her identity to the young pilot. Venisa then decided to take the cadet hostage to bring her back to the Colossus.
Venisa's conversation with Ryvora aboard the Thunderer made her question her loyalties further. Venisa also determined that there was hope for Rucklin to realize the truth, as he couldn't bring himself to shoot Ryvora when she was being used as a human shield. Eventually, Tierny's forces discovered the escape, and Venisa and Torch made it to the hangar with Ryvora in tow. Realizing that Ryvora wouldn't come willingly, Venisa ordered Torch to use the same tactic they had used to escape from Terex before, advising Ryvora to stay away from the hangar and shooting her with a stun bolt. Torch planted bombs on TIE fighters in the hangar before detonating several fuel canisters and flying away in a TIE as a distraction, allowing Venisa to slip away to her X-wing. Tierny and her troops were unable to prevent the escape as the ships in the hangar were blown to pieces. Venisa collected Torch in space before jumping away into hyperspace.

Venisa and the remnants of Jade Squadron managed to rendezvous with the Colossus. In Yeager's hangar, Venisa met Captain Doza and their daughter Torra. She then spoke with her old friend Yeager, as well as Kazuda Xiono, a new Ace pilot and Resistance spy deployed to the station by Yeager's other good friend, Commander Poe Dameron, who admired her X-wing.
Venisa requested her husband's assistance with her mission to rescue Resistance recruits on Dantooine from the First Order. Captain Doza agreed to help and provided three of his Ace pilots: their daughter Torra, Xiono, and Hype Fazon. After assembling the team, Venisa briefed the pilots about the mission, which involved escorting three shuttles carrying Resistance recruits offworld. Following the briefing, Venisa confided in Yeager that she had seen Tamara and reported that Ryvora was conflicted.
The combined Jade and Ace squadrons breached the First Order's blockade of Dantooine, destroying several TIE fighters. Entering the planet's atmosphere, they rendezvoused with the three Resistance shuttles. Before they could depart, they were attacked by the Thunderer, which deployed a squadron of TIE fighters led by Lieutenant Galek. During the dogfight, Venisa shot down and killed Galek, but the Resistance and Aces suffered a blow when one of the shuttles was shot down by Rucklin.
While the Resistance and Ace pilots were dismayed by this setback, Venisa reassured them that loss was an inevitable outcome of war and that they only failed when they lost hope. Yeager supported her, saying that the recruits' successful escape counted as a victory. Venisa spoke with her husband, who decided to commit the Colossus's resources to supporting the Resistance, stating that he was tired of running from the fight. Venisa was pleased with her husband's decision, and they welcomed the new Resistance recruits together.

Venisa Doza was both personally brave, having fought in two wars for the sake of the galaxy, and laid-back, showing no concern upon her capture by Agent Tierny. She also had good judgment, realizing that Ryvora's loyalty to the First Order was shaky and that the girl could be swayed. Venisa wanted to improve things for people she knew, such as her eventual husband Imanuel and their daughter, and for the galaxy at large, which led her to leave her family and join the Resistance. She also shared many character traits with her daughter Torra, to the point that Kazuda Xiono, a Resistance spy who had never met Venisa, immediately commented to Yeager that she reminded him of Torra upon hearing her described.
Doza was a capable leader and speaker who could motivate her subordinates. As an optimist, Doza encouraged her pilots to focus on their achievements rather than dwell on their losses.
Venisa was a highly skilled pilot and combatant, capable of escaping from forces of the First Order, such as Agent Tierny's Star Destroyer or the forces of the rogue Agent Terex, with only Torch to assist her. She was also adept at improvising plans, such as after her capture during the failed birthday rendezvous.
Doza was also a competent leader who inspired confidence and morale in her pilots. She was a skilled combat pilot who shot down several TIE fighters, including Lieutenant Galek's fighter.
Venisa Doza, by the time of the First Order–Resistance war, possessed a modified T-65B X-wing starfighter that she had altered herself, as well as her astromech droid Torch, also an older model. She also carried a DL-44 heavy blaster pistol in a holster on her hip.
Venisa Doza was first mentioned, unnamed, in the reference book Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy, which revealed her past as a Rebel pilot. She first appeared and was named in the Star Wars Resistance season 2 episode "Rendezvous Point," where she was voiced by Tasia Valenza. Doza's X-wing was designed by ILM veteran Bill George.
