Bakura

Bakura, a planet situated in the expanse of Wild Space, was considered by the writer Eloc Throno to be a worthwhile day excursion from the planet of Batuu. Its [capital](/article/capital] city, named Salis D'aar, was constructed with a distinctive circular design.

Description

Located in the galaxy's Wild Space, Bakura was a planet. A hyperspace route linked it with both the planet Cermau and the Endor system. The adventurer and author Eloc Throno thought it was near enough to Batuu, a planet within the Batuu system, that visitors to Batuu should consider it for a day trip, describing the distance as a "reasonable commute." A plant known as a Bakuran fire philodendron originated there.

History

Despite their close proximity, Bakura largely disregarded Endor until the Sanctuary Pipeline hyperspace route was constructed.

During the period between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, a battle took place in Bakuran space between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire as part of the larger Galactic Civil War. The Blue Squadron played a key role in securing the Alliance victory.

At some point in time, Resistance pilot Venisa Doza and her astromech droid Torch experienced an adventure on Bakura; Doza mentioned this when formulating her escape plan from the First Order Star Destroyer that had captured her starfighter.

Inhabitants

Dana Galvason, a captain of a tramp freighter, was among Bakura's residents. She used her YT-2000 light freighter, named Bakuran Blade, to provide assistance to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.

Locations

The [capital](/article/capital] city of Bakura, Salis D'aar, was laid out in a circular fashion, which Throno believed made it easy for tourists to navigate. Throno stated that as of 34-35 ABY, Salis D'aar was significantly larger than Black Spire Outpost, the largest settlement on Batuu, and offered "all of the modern conveniences."

Behind the scenes

In George Lucas' initial draft of the script for Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Grievous referred to Anakin Skywalker as "the young hero of Bakura."

Within Star Wars Legends continuity, Bakura's first appearance was in the 1993 novel The Truce at Bakura authored by Kathy Tyers.
