Galek, a female human, held the rank of lieutenant within the First Order and functioned as both a flight instructor and a member of the Special Forces by the year 34 ABY. While serving on the Thunderer, a Resurgent_-class Star Destroyer, this lieutenant employed a live-fire training exercise for a group of cadets, which included DT-533, DT-798, and Lin Gaava. During this exercise, DT-533 rescued DT-798, which caused Galek embarrassment in the presence of Commander Pyre and, consequently, earned DT-533 her displeasure. Galek was a firm believer in survival of the fittest and she communicated this belief to both DT-533 and DT-798. Subsequently, the lieutenant assigned the pair to a supply mission to the Titan refueling station, justifying her decision by pointing out their familiarity with the station's layout.
Later in the same year, 34 ABY, Galek spearheaded the search operation for the space station known as the Colossus near the planet Varkana. Although she was successful in locating the Colossus, the station managed to escape her grasp by jumping into hyperspace. Galek encountered the station once more at the planet Aeos Prime, where she led her squadron into battle. During this engagement, Resistance operative Kazuda Xiono launched a missile aimed at the Thunderer's bridge, but DT-533 intervened and saved Galek's life by destroying the incoming projectile. As a result of DT-533's actions, she was promoted to Second Squadron Commander, an event which Galek witnessed. After receiving intelligence about a Resistance effort to escort recruits through a blockade on the planet Dantooine, Galek deployed her squadron and joined the fray herself, piloting a TIE/fo fighter. The lieutenant met her death in the ensuing conflict when Jade Leader Venisa Doza destroyed her TIE fighter. Following her demise, DT-533 was elevated to the position of squadron leader.

Lieutenant Galek served the First Order as a flight instructor and was a human. On one occasion, the lieutenant piloted a TIE/fo space superiority fighter through an asteroid field, accompanied by a number of other TIE fighters. In 34 ABY, Galek was stationed on the Thunderer, a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer. She was observing her squadron within a hangar when three cadets—DT-533, DT-798, and Lin Gaava—arrived late, without their helmets. The instructor reprimanded them for their incomplete uniforms, reminding them that they had not earned the right to be lax. After DT-533 apologized, Galek informed the assembled cadets that her role was to train the squadron to become better pilots, while their role was to obey her instructions. The lieutenant then ordered the cadets to board their starfighters to commence their first exercise, but DT-533 remained behind, requesting to speak with Galek. The officer dismissed DT-533's request and reiterated the order for the cadet to board her ship.
The exercise involved the six recruits facing off against three X-wing drones. From the bridge of the Thunderer, Galek informed the pilots that they would be using live fire during the training, emphasizing that stun blasts were not an option in real combat, and that the cadet who scored the most points by destroying drones would become squad leader. She then initiated the exercise and monitored the cadets' performance from a console. DT-533 destroyed the first drone, which Galek announced to the squadron, urging the others to try harder to impress her. Commander Pyre noticed the promising results of the exercise, and Galek highlighted DT-533 as a prime example, which pleased Pyre. When DT-798 lost control of his fighter due to friendly fire, his TIE began to veer towards the Star Destroyer. DT-533 abandoned her attack to help guide DT-798 away from danger, as Galek and Pyre observed through the viewports. Pyre referred to DT-533 as a "hero" before leaving, which embarrassed Galek.

Galek, visibly angered, recalled the trainees and ended the exercise prematurely. The instructor then met with DT-533 and DT-798, where DT-798 admitted that he likely would not have saved DT-533. Galek confirmed DT-798's statement and informed DT-533 that, due to her actions, she was being stripped of her squadron leader rank. When the cadet protested, citing her high score and her skill in saving DT-798, Galek criticized her for abandoning the attack and jeopardizing the mission. Galek clarified that the cadet's mission was to destroy the enemy and that she should not be rescuing "lesser" pilots who could not survive independently. She also revealed that the cadet had embarrassed her in front of Pyre. Galek silenced DT-798's attempt to speak, telling the two cadets that the First Order was strengthened by the survival of the fittest and that losing weaker pilots was a natural occurrence. After reminding DT-533 that her duty was to follow orders and receiving the cadet's confirmation, Galek departed with DT-798.

Later that year, Galek approached DT-533 and DT-798 in the Thunderer's hangar, where she briefed DT-533 on her new assignment: a supply run via shuttle to the Titan, a crucial First Order refueling station. DT-533's initial excitement for a new assignment faded upon learning the nature of the mission, which caused her companion to smirk. The lieutenant reprimanded DT-798 and assigned him to the mission as well, citing the two cadets' familiarity with stations similar to the Titan, as both pilots had previously resided on the Colossus, a similar type of refueling station, located on the planet Castilon prior to enlisting in the First Order Navy. Galek instructed the cadets to depart immediately, after which she dismissed them and left. As the two pilots headed to the Titan, DT-798 wondered about Galek's comment regarding their familiarity with the stations, but his companion remained uncertain.
Later in 34 ABY, after bounty hunter Ax Tagrin informed Pyre that he had captured Kazuda Xiono, a Resistance member associated with the Colossus and wanted by the First Order, along with other Resistance members on the planet Varkana, the Thunderer, with Galek aboard, traveled to the planet. Galek remained on the Star Destroyer and initiated a search for the Colossus. Simultaneously, Pyre and First Order Security Bureau Agent Tierny went to the planet's surface to retrieve the captured Resistance members, although Xiono had managed to escape. Once CB-23, Synara San, and Jarek Yeager were in First Order captivity, Pyre contacted Galek via hologram. The lieutenant informed the commander that the search for the Colossus had yielded no results, after which Pyre instructed her to continue the search and urged her to be thorough.

Tagrin tracked down the Resistance agents' shuttle and tricked the Colossus's crew into revealing their location in orbit around Varkana. The bounty hunter relayed the location to Pyre, who then contacted Galek via hologram once again and provided the coordinates, ordering Galek to locate and destroy the Colossus. Galek responded affirmatively before instructing a nearby First Order officer to follow the coordinates, confident in the imminent capture of the station. As the Thunderer approached the Colossus's position within a red-colored nebula, the lieutenant commanded the starship's crew to activate the tractor beams and prepare all cannons. However, the Colossus jumped into hyperspace before Galek could order the Thunderer to engage. She then contacted Pyre and reported the Colossus's escape. Later, as the Resistance members fled Varkana aboard their Star Commuter 2000 shuttle, Pyre ordered Galek to scramble her TIE fighters to intercept them, but these efforts also proved futile, as the Colossus returned and extracted the agents.
The First Order subsequently deployed probe droids to locate the Colossus. Simultaneously, DT-533 was observing space from a hangar aboard the Thunderer without her helmet. DT-798 startled her by imitating Galek and questioning her about the absence of her helmet. Meanwhile, on the bridge of the Thunderer, Galek was reviewing data on a terminal with Pyre and Tierny when they were interrupted by a nearby officer, who informed Pyre about an incoming transmission from one of the probes originating near the planet Aeos Prime. Galek remained at the terminal as Pyre and Tierny left to examine the transmission. Upon identifying Xiono in the transmission, Pyre ordered the Star Destroyer to the Aeos system and instructed pilots to immediately report to their fighters.

As the Thunderer approached Aeos Prime, a squadron of TIE fighters and bombers emerged from the Star Destroyer and headed towards the planet's surface. Galek contacted the squadron via comms and instructed the pilots to disable the Colossus to prevent its escape, with DT-798 acknowledging the orders. During the subsequent battle, the Colossus's Ace Squadron launched a direct attack on the Thunderer to create an opportunity for the Colossus to escape. As the Ace Squadron approached, Galek was actively using a terminal on the bridge of the Star Destroyer. The lieutenant was shocked when Yeager's ship, piloted by Xiono, fired a missile at the bridge. However, DT-533 intercepted and destroyed the missile, saving Galek, Pyre, and Tierny. Pyre was impressed by the pilot and requested that Galek provide her designation. After the battle, Galek accompanied Tierny to DT-533's quarters and summoned the cadet to attention. Tierny then informed the pilot that she was being promoted to Second Squadron Commander.

Galek, along with DT-533, Pyre, and Tierny, convened on the Thunderer's bridge as an astromech droid projected a hologram of the planet Dantooine. Tierny presented a report indicating that shuttles carrying Resistance recruits were attempting to flee the planet, and Pyre noted that the patrolling First Order squadron enforcing a blockade on the planet had ceased communication. The commander then ordered Galek to set course for the planet and activate her squadron, expressing his desire to locate and eliminate the Resistance convoy. When DT-533 protested, citing that the shuttles were unarmed, Galek questioned if that posed a problem for her. After the Second Squadron Commander conceded, the lieutenant further suggested that she remain silent. Galek then donned her helmet as the Star Destroyer entered hyperspace. Later, while the Thunderer was still en route to Dantooine, Galek ordered all squadrons to prepare for launch over the Star Destroyer's intercom.

At Dantooine, Galek piloted a TIE/fo fighter alongside a First Order squadron. As the squadron engaged the Resistance convoy, she confirmed the First Order's targets and ordered the destruction of the shuttles. When DT-533 suggested retreating after half of the squadron had been lost, Galek quickly dismissed the idea and insisted on completing the mission. Galek began to pursue Xiono's fighter, the Fireball, prompting the Resistance pilot to compliment her skills to CB-23. She scored a hit on the Fireball's wing and locked the ship into her targeting computer. However, before she could destroy the Fireball, Galek was surprised by her alarms activating, indicating the presence of an X-wing piloted by Jade Leader Venisa Doza flanking her. Despite Galek's protests, Doza blasted her fighter, causing it to spiral out of control before being destroyed, resulting in the lieutenant's death.
With Galek deceased, DT-798 informed DT-533 that she was now in charge. Later, after the Resistance had escaped and the First Order squadron had returned to base, Tierny met with DT-533 in the hangar. The agent comforted DT-533, believing the Second Squadron Commander to be upset over Galek's death, but assured her that Galek had been a competent squadron commander who had died in service to the First Order and that her death would create new opportunities for others. Tierny then promoted DT-533 to squadron leader.

Galek was a female human with fair skin, brown eyes, and brown hair that was beginning to gray. By 34 ABY, her face displayed wrinkles, and she often wore a scowl. Galek was known as a stern, strict, and effective flight instructor with a severe disposition. As a lieutenant, she had little patience for cadets who failed to follow instructions. She had a reputation for effectively employing harsh methods. The lieutenant was devoted to the First Order and firmly believed in the survival of the fittest, which led her to consistently use live fire in training exercises and to have zero tolerance for failure. She was also comfortable with destroying unarmed transports. The lieutenant prioritized the successful completion of missions and believed that lower-ranking personnel should obey orders without question and at all costs.
Galek was equipped with a standard First Order TIE Fighter Pilot uniform, distinguished by a black military rank pauldron. Her helmet and pauldron were adorned with red livery, indicating her status as a member of the First Order Special Forces. Galek piloted a TIE/fo fighter on numerous occasions and also utilized a TIE/se Bomber.

Galek made her debut in "Live Fire," the third episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance, which aired on October 20, 2019. The instructor was initially depicted in concept art observing her squadron's first training session in the "Path of Resistance" featurette included in the DVD Star Wars Resistance: Complete Season One, which was released on August 20, 2019. She was identified as "Galek" in her first episode. The lieutenant's voice was provided by Christine Dunford, who was credited as "Lt. Galek."
Lucasfilm Animation artist Jason Pichon created concept art of Galek on January 11, 2018. Her model was derived from "Pilot TIE A" with alterations to the proportions. In earlier versions of the "Live Fire" script, Galek was named "Jimes." In the 2020 video game Star Wars: Starfighter Missions, Galek's TIE bomber had cosmetic options for a yellow trim or a yellow and brown recoloring.
