Rakata Prime, alternatively referred to as Rakata or Lehon, functioned as the original home planet for the Rakata species, a group that has been extinct for a long time. Legend has it that they pioneered hyperspace technology. It also stood out as one of the select few planets within the Unknown Regions that could be navigated. A refueling station was in orbit around the planet. The Resistance pilot Venisa Doza, accompanied by her astromech droid, Torch, once made a trip to Lehon. Furthermore, the Zabrak pirate named Tryki faced arrest for his attempt to unlawfully board a First Order cruiser in close proximity to Rakata Prime.
Lehon, also known as Rakata Prime, or simply Rakata, was a terrestrial planet situated within sector G-11 of the Unknown Regions' grid area. Despite the [Galactic Barrier](/article/galactic_barrier], a complex web of hyperspace anomalies, hindering exploration of the area, Rakata Prime was among the rare navigable planets discovered through specialized exploratory missions, accessible via carefully executed hyperspace jumps.

At some point after 9 ABY, Rieve, a Force-sensitive Hunter, came into possession of an audiochip titled The Blue Factory. This chip featured gonkrock music by Corellia's Not Dead, a band where she previously served as the lead vocalist. Upon listening to her recorded vocals, Rieve likened her screams and barks to a creature originating from Rakata.
Around 33 ABY, Tryki, the Zabrak pirate, was apprehended for his attempt to board a First Order cruiser near Rakata Prime, resulting in the destruction of her starship. The Resistance pilot Venisa Doza, along with her astromech droid Torch, also visited the planet. Later, in 34 ABY, as they faced imminent capture by the First Order, Doza referenced their time on Lehon while strategizing their escape from their current predicament.
Sometime during or before that year, Strono "Cookie" Tuggs, the adventurous chef, journeyed to a refueling station positioned above Rakata Prime. There, he savored a cup of potent caf, known as Hyperspace Brew, aboard his modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede Transport. Tuggs later included the planet and his experience at the station above it in his recipe for the local beverage, featured in The Ultimate Cookbook in 35 ABY.
The planet's names were shared by the historical Rakatan Infinite Empire, the mysterious artifacts referred to as Rakatan wraith boxes, and the Legend of Lehon. According to the legend, [Tatooine](/article/tatooine], now a desert planet, was once a jungle world inhabited by the Kumumgah.
Lehon served as the original home planet for the Rakata, an amphibious humanoid species. According to legend, the Rakatans were the pioneers of hyperspace travel. It is believed that the species was corrupted by the dark side of the Force a long time ago, which ultimately led to their extinction. The planet was also inhabited by various beasts.

The name Lehon—an alternate name for Rakata Prime in the Star Wars Legends continuity—was the first mention of Rakata Prime in the current Star Wars canon, appearing in the forty-seventh issue of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine series, published by De Agostini around November 25, 2015. The name Rakata Prime was later incorporated into canon via a map of the galaxy created for Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary. This reference book, written by Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group, accompanied the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and was released on December 18, 2015. The aforementioned map was initially revealed prior to the book's release through an article by Empire magazine on November 26, 2015. The novel Hunters: Battle for the Arena (2023) also identified the planet simply as Rakata.
Rakata Prime made its debut in the 2003 Legends video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic under the name "Unknown World." The 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology, authored by Daniel Wallace, introduced the name Rakata Prime, while the 2006 novel Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, penned by Drew Karpyshyn, introduced the name Lehon. Later in 2006, the reference book The New Essential Guide to Alien Species identified the planet simply as Rakata for the first time.
