Reytha stood out as one of the most agriculturally productive planets, known as an agriworld, within both the structure of the Galactic Republic and, subsequently, the Galactic Empire. At the time when the Battle of Yavin occurred, Governor Antes Belladar held the position of governing authority over Reytha.

The planet Reytha possessed microclimates, which guaranteed ideal conditions for growth and cultivation throughout the entire year. As the Empire's power reached its greatest extent, advanced genetic modification technologies, such as specialized synthesizers and genetic inducer-droids, were implemented more extensively. This led to the planet being recognized as the 'breadbasket of the Empire,' responsible for producing close to 10% of the food supply for the Imperial military forces. The primary agricultural product was the muja fruit, and Reythan berries were also cultivated there. The seas and oceans surrounding Reytha were abundant with fish, nearly matching the productivity of its cultivated agricultural fields.
Reytha functioned as an agriworld, under the control and governance of the Galactic Republic.
The primary settlement on Reytha was the city called Yeere. Yeere was the location of the planet's single spaceport and was also garrisoned with a small number of troops. During times of significant conflict, when agriworlds became priority targets, Yeere was transformed into a location with reinforced fortresses and strongholds.
The expansive Montrosa Ocean played a crucial role in maintaining cooler temperatures on the planet and facilitated the abundant rainfall necessary for nourishing the soil. Within this ocean, there was a chain of islands that was a popular destination for Mon Calamari star tours.
Not long after the Battle of Yavin, while Antes Belladar held the position of Governor, the Rebel Alliance successfully captured Reytha. This action deprived the Empire of vital food resources. The Empire's Executor, under the command of Darth Vader, discovered the strike through a mind probe performed on Rebel General Jan Dodonna. Vader was then dispatched to reclaim the planet. As Mara Jade secretly observed, Vader eventually recaptured Reytha, despite the delaying tactics employed by Governor Belladar. Vader, believing Beladar was either a Rebel sympathizer or too incompetent to remove all Rebel presence, executed him.
By the year 4 ABY, the planet had transitioned into an Imperial fortress world. Reytha was conquered by the New Republic Third Fleet under the leadership of Admiral Willham Burke in 6 ABY.
The initial mention of Reytha can be found in the strategy guide associated with the 2001 video game titled Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. It serves as the setting for two consecutive missions involving Darth Vader, which were also incorporated into the game's 2002 expansion pack, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns. Additionally, the planet received a mention in the 2004 novel titled Yoda: Dark Rendezvous.
