Because it held his most cherished recipes, Ely would not let anyone see the book; this led to his murder, after which Carly and J'Nell, BD-3000 luxury droids who suspected Ely's dishes were dangerous, stole it. Following the destruction of the droids and the revelation that they were Ely's killers, Strono Tuggs, Ely's superior, made the book's contents available at the Orto Culinary Academy to ensure the deceased chef was honored and his recipes were preserved.
