Roland Wann

Roland Wann, a male Human, held the rank of officer within the Galactic Republic's armed forces during the era of the Jedi Civil War.

Biography

He served as the Republic's representative to Manaan in 3956 BBY. When Revan, suffering from amnesia, made his way to that world, he eventually sought out the Republic's base of operations there. This was prompted by advice from a Republic soldier encountered at the Ahto City spaceport, who suggested that further details about the planet could be obtained there. Initially, when Revan inquired with Wann about the star map, the diplomat was hesitant, unwilling to disclose what he knew regarding Republic activities on Manaan. However, upon further prodding, Wann conceded that he might possess some knowledge, but instead requested a favor from Revan and his companions: infiltrating the Sith Embassy to locate and retrieve the memory core from a damaged submersible droid that had been seized by the Sith. After the droid's memory unit was returned to the Republic Embassy, Wann provided a comprehensive explanation of the situation: an incident had occurred at a clandestine kolto harvesting station; communications had been severed, and none of the Republic's investigative teams, which included several mercenaries, had returned.

Wann clarified that the incident transpired shortly after construction crews reported discovering a peculiar artifact along the seabed, situated just across the Hrakert Rift from the station, potentially the Star Map that Revan sought. In return for the Jedi's investigation into the station's fate, the ambassador granted Revan permission to utilize a submersible to descend to the ocean floor and uncover the truth about the Republic's kolto-harvesting facility. Upon Revan's return, Wann expressed relief, having feared he was lost, and was pleased to learn that some of the scientists, specifically Kono Nolan and Sami, had survived. He appeared genuinely surprised by Revan's account of the events: that the construction crews had awakened the Progenitor, which subsequently drove the Selkath workers at the station into a feral state, necessitating the destruction of the harvesting machinery. Accepting the loss of the station, Wann nevertheless compensated the Jedi for his efforts in uncovering the truth.

Personality and traits

Roland Wann was known to possess a strong mental fortitude, which allowed him to resist Jedi mind tricks. Revan discovered this firsthand when he attempted to persuade Wann to reveal information about Star Maps before recovering the submersible droid's files. However, he was known for being understanding and cooperative when dealing with those who needed assistance, provided they treated him with the same respect that he showed them.

Behind the scenes

There is a programming error in the game involving Roland's character. The player has the ability to continuously demand a bribe, which results in the accumulation of dark side points. Essentially, this allows the player to indefinitely gain dark side points by repeatedly selecting the same "dark" dialogue choice.
