The work teams within this area were tasked with assembling components essential for the Mk I Superlaser's dish, a part of the first Death Star battle station; however, the true nature of their work was concealed from the incarcerated individuals. The Narkina 5 prison escape was initiated in room five-two with the arrival of a substitute inmate for the deceased Ulaf.
The initial appearance of room five-two was in "Narkina 5," the eighth episode of Andor, a live-action series available on Disney+ during its first season, which debuted on October 26, 2022. Lucasfilm's Department of Weapons and Manufacturing was responsible for designing and building the extensive machinery that filled the room, creating specialized tools for the actors' use and guaranteeing the assembly line's operational integrity.
